I Can't Stand It Anymore

having more & more of Epa's Howard Beale moments lately. . .

PLEASE TELL ME HOW THE FUCK THEY CAN SPIN IT AS AN IMPROVEMENT IN THE JOBLESS RATE WHEN A PARAGRAPH EARLIER THEY SAID IT WAS BECAUSE PEOPLE GAVE UP LOOKING FOR WORK!

newsmax:

Unemployment Rate Falls in 39 States in June
Tuesday, 20 Jul 2010 12:08 PM
The unemployment rate fell in most states in June, mainly because more people gave up searching for work and were no longer counted.

Fewer states saw job increases, the latest evidence that the economic recovery is slowing.

The jobless rate declined in 39 states and Washington, D.C. last month, the Labor Department said Tuesday. That's a slight improvement from May, when 37 states saw their rates decline.

But only 21 states saw net job gains in June, the government said. That compared to 41 the previous month and was the fewest for the year.

The decline in job creation reflects the layoff of thousands of temporary census workers. Those jobs inflated total payrolls in May and then reduced them in June.

The report also indicated that businesses aren't hiring many new workers. (I could have fucking told them that) Nationwide, private employers added a net gain of only 83,000 jobs last month. (meanwhile, 6.5 million Americans are about to lose their unemployment benefits. Do the math, will ya? This should be good. . .)The national unemployment rate dropped to 9.5 percent in June from 9.7 percent the previous month, as about 650,000 people stopped looking for work.

Nevada, battered by a housing slump and a drop in tourism, posted the nation's highest unemployment rate of 14.2 percent. That's the state's highest since records began in 1976.

In May, Nevada displaced Michigan from the top spot for the first time in more than four years. Michigan's unemployment rate fell to 13.2 percent in June, the nation's second-highest. It was followed by California with 12.3 percent and Rhode Island with 12 percent.

this would headline the news cycle three times an hour as a depression if the president were a republican.

and the word improvement would NEVER be used.

I want to know who really believes all the spin crap!

And....How many WTF moments can this administration force onto us?

And Congress just passed legislation extending unemployment benefits to 2 1/2 years, which is longer than I've been retired, so I'm jealous.

Okay, so unemployment benefits have been extended.

I've been reading up on the topic of unemployment-insurance monies. How, exactly, will an extension of those benefits serve our economy in the long run?

Insurance is paid by the employer/employee to cover 26wks of unemployment, after that it's welfare. The gov't is going deeper into debt to pay people's bennies so that money will be put into the economy and people will think that they can get by and get thru this and there will be a better day. Ha! The borrowed money digs the hole deeper and screws us, our children/grand and great grandchildren and guarantees that things will be worse than if the gov't left it alone. We are approaching a point where the interest on the debt will take up all the collected taxes. If/when that happens there will be NO- SS, Medicare, Medicaid, public housing, food stamps, unemployment, etc. etc. They have to keep the game going as long as possible, otherwise it all goes belly up (which it will eventually anyway) and those who were screwed get the tar, feathers and rope and head to DC.
