Michigan Dem Gov. Jennifer Granholm: “It’s un-American to Criticize the Chevy Volt”
From Weasel Zippers:
Charles Krauthammer said it best when it comes to the Volt:
The Chevy Volt is a disaster, it’s extremely expensive, every time you buy it the purchaser has to pay $41,000 then a federal government subsidy of $7,500 so it’s a $50,000 dollar car.
“The only people who are going to buy it are going to be very rich people who are going to park it outside their townhouse for ostentatious show of how virtuous they are while they drive around in their Cadillac Escalade.”
“This is a classic example of what happens when the political and ideological desires of an administration are imposed on a private company…It’s not how many jobs you create or even save, it’s can you sell a product in the market that will make a profit? Otherwise, it’s a farce."

Its $41,000 before the $7,500 subsidy, so its still a $41,000 car. It'll cost $33,500 to the consumer after the subsidy.
I also disagree that the purchasers will be the very rich. I think most purchasers will be young professionals who aren't yet tied down by a mortgage. I'm 27, I saved up for over 2 years and plan to buy one cash money.
You're also overlooking the most important part: It'll let you do your daily commute sans-petrol - so less money going to the DAMN DIRTY MUSLIMS!
David,
That's not the point. The point is, with the subsidy, and the government investment in GM, the car is, in effect a government car.
And now, if we criticize it, we are called "un-American".
Doesn't that strike you as strange?
At this point, I think we might have more to worry about with the "DAMN DIRTY LIBERALS" than from Muslims in general.
