Just a quick note about the Putin picture -- contrary to what many reported he was not hapooning whales (or dissidents). He was shooting them with darts to collect skin samples as part of a biological study. On whales, that is, not dissidents. All part of the macho-ing up of his image.
As for the macho-ing up of the other feller well, there's just no helping some people. . .
