From My Cold Dead Hands

You'll recall that the media made a bit of a to do about the big jump in gun and ammo sales in the months running up to and immediately following the election of the Worst President in American History. If you're a gunner you certainly experienced it first hand as ammo prices jumped, WHEN you could find it.

They also made a bit of a to do about the increase in applications for Licenses to Carry.

And more and more states over the past decade or so have been adopting some form of Shall Issue laws, making it easier for their citizens to defend themselves, their loved ones, homes and businesses. Making it easier for them to take responsibility for their own safety.

How un-American.

So isn't it a helluva coincidence that in the year following the most recent guns and ammo boom that violent crime fell again? Just as nearly every state or municipality that has made it easier for their citizens to carry reports after they've done so. Thugs think twice when they know violence may be met with violence.

An armed society is a polite society.

FBI Says Violent Crime Fell again Last Year
Monday, 13 Sep 2010

WASHINGTON (AP) — The FBI said Monday that violent crime reported to police in 2009 declined for the third straight year.

The 5.3 percent drop in violent crime was accompanied by a 4.6 percent drop in property crime, marking the seventh consecutive year that nonviolent crime has dropped.

Each of the violent crime categories decreased from 2008, as did each of the property crime categories.

Murder fell by 7.3 percent, robbery by 8 percent, aggravated assault by 4.2 percent and rape by 2.6 percent. Motor vehicle theft was down by 17.1 percent, larceny by 4 percent and burglary by 1.3 percent.

Data for the FBI's report comes from 17,985 governmental units and universities and colleges representing over 96 percent of the nation's population.

.45 ACP has become a pain in the ass to find at some gunstores. Fortunately, the shooting range I frequent sells them in bulk and always has inventory (and I live in looney left California).

My favorite gunstore for many months would not sell more than one box of certain calibers (esp .45, .380 and 38 spc) to you unless you bought a gun. He reasoned that he couldn't sell guns unless he was able to sell the ammo with them at the same time.

Around here (eastern Pa.) that has eased up now and at several of my favorite gunshows you can again by them at discounted by the case rates. And the dealer is again selling as much as you want.
