White House Gets Ford to Pull Anti-Bailout TV Ad

Ford has pulled a TV ad that took shots at companies that benefited from federal government’s auto bailout “in response to White House questions,” reports Daniel Howes at the Detroit News.

Ford pulled the ad after individuals inside the White

House questioned whether the copy was publicly

denigrating the controversial bailout policy

[Ford] CEO Alan Mulally repeatedly supported in the dark days of late 2008, in early ‘09 and again when the ad flap arose,” Howes writes.

Frankly Ford had a patriotic duty to tell the White House their ads are none of the government's goddamned business.

Maybe we’ll have to buy Nissan, Honda or Toyota.

You are absolutely right. They DO indeed have a Patriotic duty.

Wow, this pisses me off.

Ridiculous.

More and more it's obvious a dictatorial regime is taking over free speech and the constitution is going down the drain.

I tho't it was a gutsy move. We had (had!) decided our next new car would be a Ford. My old lady loved that commercial.
If they're gonna cave, who cares about standing w/them. I would still rather have a Ford than Gov't Motors or Chrysler.
But, hey why take a chance when I know a Jap car will go 200K if all I do is scheduled maint.
I so want someone, somewhere to stand on a principle and not back down even if they have to fight Hell by the acre.
