‘Occupy Wall Street’ Participation To Earn Class Credit At Columbia U.
Announcement Comes As Dozens Are Arrested On New Year’s Eve Columbia University will offer a new course for upperclassmen and grad students next semester. An Occupy Wall Street class will send students into the field and will be taught by Dr. Hannah Appel, a veteran of the Occupy movement.
The course begins next semester and will be divided between class work at Columbia’sMorningside Heights campus and fieldwork that will require students to become involved with the Occupy movement outside of the classroom. The course will be called “Occupy the Field: Global Finance, Inequality, Social Movement” it will be run by the anthropology department.Appel is a staunch defender of the Occupy movement, in her blog she said that, ““it is important to push back against the rhetoric of ‘disorganization’ or ‘a movement without a message’ coming from left, right and center.”
Honey, darling, YOU ARE THE SCHWERPUNKT and bullseye of the forces of DISORGANIZATION, ANARCHY, RAGNAROK, and that slouching beast thing.
All you people out there with $80k in college debt who are part of the 45% between 18- and 29 with no job …. in the mind of some man or woman on an assembly line, delivering soda, selling to doctors, mid level managers, THIS STORY is what having an education is coming to mean.
You are being taught WORTHLESSNESS as value. Anarchy as organization. Filth as community organizing.
And you spent $80,000 dollars on that from which you now cannot even escape through bankruptcy.
Remember to tell you kids, if you can ever afford to have any, in that govt subsidized apt you will have to take because of people like Appel, that it WASN’T WORTH THE MONEY.
The only value you have is mind and what you can generate from it.
That value is YOURS.
No one else’s, no matter what kind of tortuous logic is wrapped around the emotional appeal designed to give the govt the right to steal any % of that value they arrogate the right to declare proper..

I suppose that we should be grateful that CU isn't REQUIRING this "course" in order to get any kind of diploma.
Do they get extra merits for crapping on American flags & Cop cars?
I studied anthropology in the early 60's. Most of the subject matter was stone-age man. At least that has not changed.
