IN ONE INTERVIEW SHE SAYS HER DAUGHTER

Lily had a very bad brain injury as a 4 month old 

IN ANOTHER INTERVIEW SHE SAYS:

Lily was born a happy healthy baby girl, but at 4 months old Lily got sick with viral meningitis. "She's a triplet. 

They were all full-term super healthy babies, and then they all just got a cold, and hers for whatever reason turned into a brain infection which caused seizures, which caused a massive lack of oxygen," Kathyrn Mathis, Lily's mother, said.  

 Lily suffered global brain damage which led to quadriplegic cerebral palsy, epilepsy, vision impairment and other health issues.

I may be making too much out of this, but who refers to brain-damage as the result of lack of oxygen during a fever as a "bad brain injury"?

I know the effect is the same. But they are not usually spoken of using the same words. A brain injury implies a concussion bruise to the brain, not oxygen deprivation due to a virus.

Anyway, even if there is nothing strange about that, there is something strange about the fact that this woman, who made national news today talking about her Transgendered son/daughter, Coy Boy, has also, in the past, gone public begging for money for her daughter's wheelchair:

Family needs assistance getting wheelchair van for special needs daughterFOUNTAIN, COLO. -- Lily Mathis' story is slowly spreading on the web, and dozens have already reached out to help, but this southern Colorado family is still far from being able to purchase a crucial piece of equipment for their special needs daughter.
Lily's wheelchair has been specially designed to keep her comfortable and safe.
But her family doesn't have a wheelchair van, forcing them to place her in her car seat for their long trips to Denver for treatment.
"Usually by the time we get to the hospital she's writhing in pain, and we have to give her some medication for that," Jeremy said.
The family is trying to raise funds to purchase a wheelchair van, a daunting task, with a starting price at around $40,000.
"The issue with us is not only do we need the wheelchair van, we need one that will fit our entire family of seven," Jeremy said. "Getting one of those would enable us to essentially just wheel her up into the van without having to pick her up, which increases the risk of further injury to her bones and also the additional pain would subside."
With help from the community and complete strangers the Mathis family has already raised around $7,000.

Lily contracted a virus known  as RSV. She was very fussy when we put her to bed on February 16th, 2006. We woke just a few hours later to a parent's worst nightmare; we found Lily gray and limp, not breathing, and having seizures. She was rushed to the hospital where she spent the next 9 days in a coma fighting for her life, unknown if she would ever breathe on her own again or even live.Amazingly, Lily was a fighter and defied expectations. However, she suffered massive brain damage during the time she was not breathing.

UPDATE - HERE'S SOME MORE INFORMATION PROVIDED BY SOMEONE WHO BELIEVES KATHRYN MATHIS IS SEEKING FAME:

If you haven't seen the news today, the world is all a flutter about the 6 year old, transgendered, triplet boy, who identifies with being a girl instead of a boy, and was denied access to the first grade girls' bathroom, so mom is filing a lawsuit against the school district 

I'm going to weigh in on this, because I've "known" this mom online for six years and I've got some perspective on this story, given the background information I am privy to.  

My opinion, based on my knowledge, is the mom of this child is a fame-seeking attention whore, who will stop at nothing to prove how edgy and non-mainstream she is, even at the expense of her child's privacy.  I "met" her online six years ago when she came to the Triplet Connection and made a huge ruckus because she  was dead-set on homebirthing her "natural" triplets in a kiddie pool in her living room.  I thought she was a faker, so I immediately set out to see if she was real, or not, where I discovered that she didn't, in fact, have "natural" triplets.  She had ordered clomid from Mexico, and gotten pregnant using non-prescribed fertility drugs.  Here's her post about that.  It's still public all these years later.  Her name is Kathryn. 

So that was my first encounter with her.  She did actually successfully homebirth her natural children in her living room in a kiddie pool and she became a sensation in the Birthing Communities and Natural Parenting communities.

When her children were 3 months old, they contracted RSV.  I'll let this commenter on CNN explain what happened next.

I was actually following the live blogging at the time and needless to say, I was heartbroken. 

She then became well-known for having a special needs child and had/has a very large following.  Then I lost track of her, until all of sudden she popped up in my radar two months ago when it was brought to my attention that her son was now a girl and she was going to sue the school district.  I said two months ago, "Mark my words, she'll be on national TV." 

And sure enough, here she is, on national TV.  How did I know this?  Because she must be the center of attention and remain non-mainstream and make sure she's edgy and understanding.  It's the way she works.  Is her kid actually transgendered?  Who knows at that age.  Time will tell. 

Here's the one thing I can say with 100 percent accuracy... if your parents take you on national television at six years old and make you a public spectacle before the ENTIRE WORLD, you will likely need therapy in the future, regardless if you are a boy or girl.  Guaranteed.  I'm not even going to argue about the validity of the claim because once you take a private family matter public, you are not doing it for the best interest of your family. You are doing it for yourself because you want 1. Money, 2. Fame, 3. Attention.

PASTORIUS AGAIN - ANOTHER THING ABOUT KATHRYN MATHIS: HER KIDS ARE 8 YEARS OLD, AND THE THREE TRIPLETS ARE 6.

BUT SHE AND JEREMY GOT MARRIED IN 2009.

THAT DOES NOT NECESSARILY MEAN ANYTHING, EXCEPT THAT SHE GOT MARRIED AND HAD KIDS IN THE WRONG ORDER.
