"Some longtime trusted sources have become nervous and anxious about talking with us”

AP president and chief executive Gary Pruitt said this in a speech to the National Press Club.
“In some cases, government employees we once checked in with regularly will no longer speak to us by phone. Others are reluctant to meet in person … This chilling effect on newsgathering is not just limited to AP.
“Journalists from other news organizations have personally told me that it has intimidated both official and nonofficial sources from speaking to them as well.”
There was no defense for such actions during the NIxon admin, and there is no defense today.
“our liberty depends on the freedom of the press, and that cannot be limited without being lost.”
This administration will claim they are not restraining the press, but as we can all see, without the oxygen of reliable and verifiable sources, nothing survives.
This is the coercion of jail for exposing corruption, incompetence and the use of the govt for personal or party political gains in a manner which would revolt the people.
There IS no other explanation
