From the IB Times:
The Shariah Project, a London-based Muslim group, is to march through Brick Lane on Friday against the drinking and sale of alcohol along the nightlife spot.
Members of the group believe the consumption or selling of alcohol to be “sinful” under Islamic law and should be “strictly prohibited”.
They hope that the rally, scheduled for the afternoon following Friday prayers, will illuminate the ills of alcohol.
Spokesman for the group Abu Rumaysah, said: “There’s a lot of problems in the area like anti-social behaviour caused by drinking and a lot of the Muslims are involved in selling alcohol in their shops.”
He added: “The one who is not a Muslim is already going to hellfire. The one who drinks or sells alcohol God can forgive if he mends his ways.”
Rumaysah added that hate preacher Anjem Choudary is one of its “mentors”.
Abdul Muhid, a shopowner, said he contacted the Islamic group after the local council raised alcohol abuse as a problem in the borough. “One of the problems in the recession is that people are depressed and some have hit the bottle,” he said.
“My duty as a Muslim is to convince people of the ills of alcohol. “In the Islamic teaching drinking and selling alcohol is a sin.”

Will, regarding what you posted on alcohol and Islam, I'm assuming you were copy/pasting someone else's work (since I don't believe you consider the Quran, God's work, neither do you consider Mohammed the child rapist a prophet...)
There are some fundamental flaws and lack of understanding in the logic presented there.
First of all, there has to be understanding that Suras in the Quran are not in chronological order. Sura 5 (Al Maidah) is one of the last Suras that Mohammed dictated hence it takes precedence, in case of contradictions, over everything else that came before.
So it matters little that other Suras are saying stuff like "try not to be drunk when you're praying" or "alcohol is awesome" since this contradicts with what Sura 5 is saying ("avoid it", I'll get to that in a second). This kind of BS is just a testament to how horrible the Quran really is and how contradictory and idiotic it really is.
Anyway, the verse 5:90 that you quoted says:
"O you who have believed, indeed, intoxicants, gambling, stone alters, and divining arrows are but defilement from the work of Satan, so avoid it that you may be successful."
The person you quoted seems to have missed the point. In Islam, Satan is the enemy of Allah, you side with Satan or do anything promoted by Satan, you're siding with Allah. The "Success" in Islam has EVERYTHING to do with paradise. Even worldly success is related to whether one is able to go to paradise or not. That is why if Muslims lose a battle or war, they think they're f***ed on judgement day since Allah must be pissed at them, which is proven by the fact that they lost the war.
But let's not stop there though, consider the very next verse:
"Satan only wants to cause between you animosity and hatred through intoxicants and gambling and to avert you from the remembrance of Allah and from prayer. So will you not desist?" 5:91
That pretty much sums up what I was saying. If you "don't remember Allah" and don't pray, (those are the most important pillars of Islam, Shahadah and Prayer), then you're going to hell.
In fact, these verses is stronger than other verses saying "haram" or "forbidden" since these verses say that if you consume alcohol, you're siding with Satan against Allah. Allah doesn't like sh*t like that.
Even though this is enough to explain what I wanted to say, I also wanted to point out the false argument on another verse in the same chapter:
"There is not upon those who believe and do righteousness blame concerning what they have eaten if they fear Allah and believe and do righteous deeds, and then fear Allah and believe, and then fear Allah and do good; and Allah loves the doers of good."
This verse isn't saying, "Do whatever the heck you want and then do good deeds and you and Allah are cool." It is saying that if you, in the past, consumed things forbidden to you then you are forgiven if you later put your faith in Allah and do what he tells you to.
Remember that these verses were dictated by Mohammed while he was making alcohol illegal in Medina. Mohammed was in the habit of telling people that they had to follow his orders because Allah wanted them to.
After telling them that they had to get rid of alcohol, what do you expect Mohammed to do with his soldiers, whom he needed and used to rape, pillage and murder? "Ya'll are f***ed since you drank alcohol in the past!"?
No, of course not, he told them, all's good as long as they don't do it from now on.
In conclusion, Muslim scholars are 100% right when they say that alcohol is forbidden. And they're 100% right when they consider consumption of alcohol a more serious offense than rape or murder.

I gotta proof read my sh*t.
" In Islam, Satan is the enemy of Allah, you side with Satan or do anything promoted by Satan, you're siding with Allah."
I meant to say:
" In Islam, Satan is the enemy of Allah, you side with Satan or do anything promoted by Satan, you're standing against Allah."

I wonder how this new push by the invaders will sit with people like Harry et al. People in that social circle seldom have to deal with the savages. Middle and lower classes are the ones dealing with Allah's demands and impositions on a daily basis.
I love to see how the empowered savages keep pushing for more and more accommodations. The more they push, the sooner the dhimmis will see the light. Hopefully NOW!
Allah is Satan...according to me.

What concerns Satan and Allah.
A must see is the 'Secret Santa' a clip from David Wood.
