Excuse me but WHERE THE FUCK ARE WE? Voluntary government checkpoints??

USA TODAY (not exactly a hotbed of libertarian theory):

Checkpoints, which the government insists are voluntary, are creating a backlash because of the presence of uniformed police officers. Some police departments won’t participate anymore.

A tactic used by the federal government to gather information for anti-drunken and drugged driving programs is coming under criticism in cities around the country, and some local police agencies say they will no longer take part.
The tactic involves a subcontractor for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that uses off-duty but uniformed police at voluntary roadside checkpoints where motorists are asked on their behavior behind the wheel. In some cases, workers at the checkpoints collect blood and saliva samples, in addition to breath samples. NHTSA has said previously that the surveys do not collect any DNA. Drivers are not charged at the checkpoints.
Proper response:
'With all due respect, whoever you are MR CONTRACTOR ..you are engaging PERSONALLY by not refusing, in actions which are intended to be intimidating and are therefore anti american to the core, and which nay well be illegal and unconstitutional. Not only do I refuse, I want YOUR name and identification, please?'
Now consider this:
Parents call police for help, cops show up and kill their 18-year-old son
Two North Carolina parents are in shock after local police shot and killed their 18-year-old son in their own home, while they watched helplessly.
The family called police because they were worried about their son, Keith Vidal, who is schizophrenic and suffers from depression, according to local news. Vidal, armed with a small screwdriver, was apparently having a psychotic episode. Mark Wilsey, Vidal’s father, called the authorities to help deal with the situation.
An officer from the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office and another from the Boiling Spring Lakes police department showed up to the house soon after. Eventually, a third officer from the Southport police department entered the home as well, and ordered the use of tasers to subdue Vidal. According to Wilsey, Vidal was pinned on the ground by two of the officers when a third said, “we don’t have time for this,” and shot Vidal, killing him.
Vidal had just turned 18, and weighed a mere 90 pounds.
We have a new and growing problem. Those with power LOVE POWER. It’s time for Americans to draw a line with the ballot and the courts.
