Satan gets a statue in Oklahoma

I am going to channel my inner David Goldberger for this incredible story.
Kirsten Powers, fine lady who is a D, and became pretty religious has a column on the Oklahomans who have petitioned, as a religion to place a statue of, well…
whatever that thing is.
The monument depicts Baphomet, a goat-headed pagan idol, sitting on a throne inscribed with an inverted pentagram. According to a spokesman for the temple, “The statue will also have a functional purpose as a chair where people of all ages may sit on the lap of satan for inspiration and contemplation.”
Welcome to America.
There will be those overseas (Ikwhan, Khamenei)who will say it proves we are declining and going to hell, and their victory via Allah must be imminent if we are doing this (the phrase great satan DOES come to mind).
There will be those here, such as the Westboro Baptist church who will say this is the next step after gays marrying.
There will be those who cite religious moral equivalents. I mean, no one has yet fought war for satan, although perhaps this statue means he is progressing to that point.
None of that matters. For if the Constitution means anything, if worshiping satan IS a religion, then satanists MUST be allowed their statue.
We must, and I use the word as I think it is really meant…

TOLERATE

that religion.
But that doesn't mean we have to do nothing either. It has to be sculpted, moved, placed, and visited and THAT is where our freedoms can be used to pressure, obstruct, and object by demonstration this OBSCENE FUCKING IDEA, we MUST TOLERATE.

Have you ever heard that old "tough guy" quip: "It's better to rule in hell than serve in heaven?" I try to impress on folks that when you get there you will find that only Satan rules in hell. And serving the Lord will be a lot better than serving Satan.

You write - no one has yet fought war for satan

I respond - not specifically in the name of Satan. But in the name of Allah, yes indeed many wars have been fought.

Allah is defined by a list of attributes that are exactly the same as Satan's attributes.

No one, to my knowledge, fought a war in the name of Ba'al, Moloch, or Dionysus, but the worship of such idols certainly does lead to a decline in the civilization which worships those idols. You don't have to be a Westboro Baptist moron to understand that.

Idols, Gods, or whatever you want to call them are representations of a set of ideas which when embodied in a deity are attributes of that deity.

If they are evil, they will result in evil.

Don't scoff at things just because they are represented as religious in nature. Ideas are ideas, just as energy is energy.

Ideas are the energy of the human mind. And the human mind is the impetus for what happens in the world.

Now, what do you have to say? Are you still snickering?

Frankly the best societal outcome is that this is built to great public outcry, demonstrations and then sits vacant, covered in pigeon shit because no one will clean it
