80% of Americans Consider Illegal Immigration a Serious Problem - 59% Want Illegals Kicked The Fuck Out

Most of the American public is to the right of me on this issue.

From Rassmussen:
(Rasmussen) – Voters remain seriously worried about illegal immigration and still think stricter border control is the best way to stop it. But slightly fewer voters believe providing a pathway to citizenship will encourage more illegal immigrants to come.
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 80% of Likely U.S. Voters regard illegal immigration as a serious problem in America today, with 50% who describe it as a Very Serious one. Twenty percent (20%) don’t consider illegal immigration a serious problem, but that includes only five percent (5%) who say it’s Not At All Serious.
These attitudes have changed little since the first of the year. By comparison, 63% say global warming is a serious problem, with 35% who view it as Very Serious.
When it comes to immigration reform, 58% of voters continue to think gaining control of the border is more important than legalizing the status of undocumented workers already living in the United States.
That’s down from April’s recent high of 63% but generally in line with surveys over the past three years. Thirty-five percent (35%) say it’s more important to grant legal status to those already living here, up five points from April.

Shock Poll: 59% Back Trump On Deportation of Illegals

I do not support the wholesale deportation of illegals. I believe we live under a government which has openly colluded with a corporate Oligarchy to bring illegals into our nation.

These illegals have to a large extent lived without equal access to justice.

We the People of the United States did not ask for this situation. On the contrary, we have repeatedly rejected illegal immigration in elections and polls for as long as I have been an adult.

HOWEVER, just because we have openly rejected the system under which we live, that does not mean we can shirk responsibility.

We the People are, unfortunately, just as responsible for this system as early Americans were for the system of Slavery.

The sad truth is, until we take it upon ourselves to do away with this system BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY, we have to take responsibility for the system by which we live our lives of American bounty.

My position is, we build a wall FIRST. We CLOSE THE BORDER FOR GOOD.

Then, we grant Amnesty to all Illegals who can show they have positively contributed to our nation.

Then we enroll all these Amnesties immigrants in Civics Courses, and teach them about the ideas of the Founders of the United States.

Then these Amnestied Immigrants will be required to pass a test on what they should have learned.

And then they swear an Oath of Allegiance to the United States of America, and it's Constitution.

AND THEN, AND ONLY THEN WE GRANT THEM CITIZENSHIP.

Pasto,
Most of the American public is to the right of me on this issue.

That's because some of us are insulated from many of the effects of illegal immigration.

I don't favor amnesty again. It sends the wrong message, IMO. There must be a better way than outright amnesty.

Also, I have been impacted by illegal immigration: car accident (you know the story), my tenant's salary driven down because of illegals driving down wages for carpenters, and my recently having had to get a chickenpox vaccine (to which I've already had two reactions).

I absolutely agree that the wall must be built first.

I cannot agree with this statement because I reject the assignment of collective blame: We the People are, unfortunately, just as responsible for this system as early Americans were for the system of Slavery.

I guess that one could say that capitalism is responsible for slavery in early America and for the lure of the cheap labor of illegal immigrants. Should we then blame capitalism? Is one reality of capitalism that it requires a cheap source of labor?

Pasto,
BTW, I totally agree with your commentary from the words "Then we enroll" to the end of your blog post.

Capitalism may have a role in bringing illegals in, but it is the collusion of our government and business interests which actually enables it.

We are responsible for our government.

When we attacked Germany and Japan in WWII, or Iraq in this war, the reason we did it is because their government was bad. We did not attempt to sort out blame. We attacked the nations and destroyed the infrastructure.

We do this because we believe people are to some extent responsible for the sins of their government.

We better insist that the same be reinstituted in our elementary through university 'social studies' curriculum.

Also, the crimes of communism need to be addressed as firmly as Nazism was post WWII. The absence of such is why we are in the stewing kettle undermining a once stable society based on equality/freedom with:
'BLM', 'gender identity' nonsense, global warming/redi$tribution/anti-capitalism, white guilt, etc. etc.

I had finished this post with the sentence, AND THEN WE NEED TO ROUND UP ALL THE LEFTISTS AND DO THE SAME TO THEM.

But I thought that was taking the post in a direction it did not need to go, and making the post sound like a joke (when I don't want it to be funny).

Maybe I should put that sentence back in.

To an extent, the people have been responsible for this government.

But I must tell you that , for decades, some of us who have long been anti-illegal-immigration have been trying to get our elected public officials to do something about illegal immigration. We've been shouted down and shut out of the town square.

Employers are also responsible. So are a lot of churches.

There will be no immigration control without SEVERE penalties for all employers and other aiders and betters of illegals.

I don't know when it became acceptable for employers, corporate or private (including home owners) to get away with knowingly hiring illegals to the extent that we now see. Perhaps somebody here knows the answer to that question.

Exactly. These days we call it Crony Capitalism. Classically it was known as Mercantilism. Opposition to Mercantilism motivated Adam Smith to write "The Wealth of Nations."

AOW, you wrote - I must tell you that , for decades, some of us who have long been anti-illegal-immigration have been trying to get our elected public officials to do something about illegal immigration. We've been shouted down and shut out of the town square.

I RESPOND - I actually wrote all of that in my post. In other words, on all that, you and I are in agreement.

Anonymous, I did not know that about Adam Smith.

Thank you.

Pasto,
I am particularly sensitive about granting amnesty because of what I heard an officer of the court say during my attempt to recover compensation for medical bills resulting from the 2005 car accident which left me permanently injured and in constant pain:

"The court sides with the poor immigrant. If the situation were reversed, he'd be taking you to the cleaner's."

The illegal immigrant involved:

1. was driving a yellow cab (cab company not liable because all cabs are titled to individual owners)

2. ran the stop sign @ 35 mph and rear-ended me

3. lied at the scene about as to which insurance carrier provided his insurance

4. refused to report the accident

5. didn't appear in court when summoned

6. had been under a deportation order since the 1980's

This is the glory of living in a sanctuary city. Pfffft.
