According to his online voter registration Robert Lewis Dear identifies as a woman.
Think Progress writes:
Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz is the latest presidential candidate trying to downplay the role anti-abortion rhetoric may have played in motivating the Planned Parenthood shooting in Colorado Springs Friday afternoon.
When a reporter asked him at an Iowa campaign stop Sunday evening about suspect Robert Lewis Dear saying he was motivated by “no more baby parts,”
Cruz countered that he’s also been reported to be a “transgendered [sic] leftist activist.” Cruz explained, “We know that he was a man registered to vote as a woman.”
This discrepancy on Dear’s voter registration was first reported by The Gateway Pundit, a self-described “right-of-center news website,” under the claim that he “identifies as [a] woman.”
Conservatives have since run with the claim that Dear is transgender. There is actually no evidence to suggest that he is transgender, nor a “leftist,” nor any kind of activist. In fact, all of the available information suggests he was none of those things. We'll see, Think Progress. We'll see.
MEANWHILE:
Police Say They Won’t Release Motive In Colorado Springs Shooting
Colorado Springs police say they will not disclose why a gunman opened fire at a Planned Parenthood clinic, killing three people.
Police say in a statement Sunday that they are sealing the warrants related to the case against 57-year-old Robert Lewis Dear. They say they are not providing information on the weapon used in Friday’s shooting, a timeline of events or a motive of the suspect. There's got to be some reason the PD will not release information.
You think it's because Dear is a Christian Anti-Abortion Activist?
Or do you think it's because he's a Transgendered Activist?
Of do you think it's just because he's a nut and the authorities are simply showing some polite discretion?

There are reports that law enforcement officials stated that Dear targeted the Planned Parenthood facility because of "baby parts."
Were those statements really made? Were they leaks?
Early on, the police said that they weren't going to release any information about the suspect, but once Obama came out and stated what he did about gun control, reports about the motivation of the killer started appearing.
What the hell is going on?
Is Dear a moonshiner who drank too much of his toxic product?
That's what he looks like.
;-)
Police won't release information because the feds have taken over and forbidden the locals to communicate with the press. This is the mass shooter protocol put in place after the Giffords shooting. DHS assumes immediate and total control to put a gag on the story line until all available information can scrubbed, massaged, or tailored to fit the administration narrative. This administration corrupts everything it touches and the Republican Party is, IMHO, complicit.
The guy/whatever is bat shit crazy. It's been reported that he is incoherent by acquaintances and neighbors yet cooperating with authorities. He has a lengthy police record. The police are likely sifting through the muck of his incoherence...but....the feds will leap at the opportunity to cherry pick any potential crumb of utterance they find useful to their narrative...which apparently has been decided to focus on gun control and 'body parts'.
WOWT "A law enforcement official says the suspect in the shooting spree, 57-year-old Robert Dear, made a comment about "no more baby parts" after his arrest."
How convenient to have A(n unidentified) law enforcement official (fed or state or local?) reveal an unconfirmed quote from the suspect ...yet according to the above post, local LE "are not providing information on the weapon used in Friday’s shooting, a timeline of events or a motive of the suspect."
