Illegal Alien Arab Held on Federal Ammunition Charges
A citizen of the United Arab Emirates, kicked out of college, is being held on federal ammunition charges in central Florida.The Department of Justice arrested 25-year-old Hamid Mohamed Ahmed Ali Rehaif on charges of possession of ammunition by an unlawful or illegal alien.The charge carries a maximum penalty of ten years in federal prison. According to the criminal complaint, Rehaif came to the United States under a student visa in 2013. He got kicked out of the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne in 2014 and lost his student status.The Department of Justice said Rehaif became an unlawful alien when he failed to leave the United States within 30 days of his termination as a student.A call about suspicious activity at the Hilton Rialto in Melbourne on Tuesday, Dec. 8, is what led investigators to Rehaif.Melbourne Police received a tip about a man named Hamid Mohamed Ahmed Ali Rehaif who had been staying at the hotel for nearly two months. Investigators said he paid more than $11,000 in cash for his room.The caller, according to the criminal affidavit, said Rehaif checked out every morning and checked back into the hotel, but into a different room for 53 consecutive days. Police said the caller also claimed Rehaif admitted to havingweapons in his room. Rehaif reportedly showed several bullets to a hotel employee as well.*****Hamid Rehaif participated in a YouTube video on how to dissect a clock.
