American Tourist Murdered in Israel by -- Whoops! CNN Missed the "Arab" Part

Other media outlets are reporting that the survivor of a vicious attack on two women outside Jerusalem identified their assailants as "Arab men". CNN must be waiting for confirmation that the attackers were not Quaker seniors from a rival Philadelphia tour group.

Jerusalem (CNN) -- The body of an American female tourist missing since Saturday was found outside Jerusalem on Sunday morning, an Israeli police spokesman said.

A search was launched after a second woman arrived at a picnic area with multiple stab wounds and said she and a friend had been attacked, police said.

Police spokesman Mickey Rosenfeld identified the deceased woman as Christine Logan, an American, and the other woman as Kaye Susan Wilson, a British citizen living in Israel.

Earlier, Rosenfeld had the nationalities reversed.

Wilson was in stable condition at a hospital in Jerusalem on Sunday, said Dr. Yuval Weiss, the hospital's director.

The two women had been hiking in a forest near Beit Shemesh, west of Jerusalem, Rosenfeld said.

Wilson told police they were attacked by two men, tied up and stabbed. She said she escaped and ran for help.

Rosenfeld did not say there had been any arrests.

The Foreign Office in London said it was "aware of the hospitalization of a British national" and was ready to provide assistance if needed.

Mona Eltahawy writes of the widespread racism in the Arab world:

We are a racist people in Egypt and we are in deep denial about it. On my Facebook page, I blamed racism for my argument and an Egyptian man wrote to deny that we are racists and used as his proof a program on Egyptian Radio featuring Sudanese songs and poetry!

Our silence over racism not only destroys the warmth and hospitality we are proud of as Egyptians, it has deadly consequences.

What else but racism on Dec. 30, 2005, allowed hundreds of riot policemen to storm through a makeshift camp in central Cairo to clear it of 2,500 Sudanese refugees, trampling or beating to death 28 people, among them women and children?

What else but racism lies behind the bloody statistics at the Egyptian border with Israel where, since 2007, Egyptian guards have killed at least 33 migrants, many from Sudan's Darfur region, including a pregnant woman and a 7-year-old girl?

The racism I saw on the Cairo Metro has an echo in the Arab world at large, where the suffering in Darfur goes ignored because its victims are black and because those who are creating the misery in Darfur are not Americans or Israelis and we only pay attention when America and Israel behave badly. Jews and Arabs studying together:

Every day more than 800 students, both Arabs and Jews, gather to learn at four schools in Israel located in Jerusalem, the Galilee Region, Wadi Ara, and Beer Sheva.

Unfortunately a school advocating co-existence between Arabs and Jews could not exist in areas governed by the Palestinians as the goal of Hamas (the terrorist group the Palestinians elected to lead them) is the total destruction of Israel. What must be overcome if peace is to be achieved (videos):

1. A 3 1/2 year old Egyptian girl shares what she has been taught: "We must teach our children to be good Muslims"

2. Just as Hitler fought the Jews...we should fight the Jews and burn them": Lebanese University Students illustrate what they have learned.

3. A Saudi "man-in-the-street type interview reveals quite a lot about educational objectives in that country: Would you shake hands with a Jew?

4. This sort of bigotry and stereotyping of Jews is not only taught in the schools, but is reinforced by anti-Semitic propaganda (often copied directly from that of Nazi Germany) that is found in much of the Arab & Iranian media.

5. Of course this sort of bigotry is present not only in schools in the Arab world, but even in some Arab-backed schools in the west. From a textbook in The King Fahd Academy in Britain: "The monkeys are the Jews; and the pigs: they are the Christian infidels at Jesus' table. Video.

6. Islamist propagandists are starting to make significant inroads in U.S. universities as well. Founded by members of the Muslim Brotherhood, the Muslim Student Association, or MSA, now has chapters on nearly 150 college campuses across North America. Video: Jihad in Academia.
