Founded TV network to combat negative perceptions of Muslims
The founder and CEO of Bridges TV, a popular Muslim channel carried by many cable networks, has been arrested in Buffalo, New York, for beheading his wife.
Orchard Park police are investigating a particularly gruesome killing, the beheading of a woman, after her husband — an influential member of the local Muslim community — reported her death to police Thursday.
Police identified the victim as Aasiya Z. Hassan, 37. Detectives have charged her husband, Muzzammil Hassan, 44, with second-degree murder.
“He came to the police station at 6:20 p.m. [Thursday] and told us that she was dead,” Orchard Park Police Chief Andrew Benz said late this morning.
Muzzammil Hassan told police that his wife was at his business, Bridges TV, on Thorn Avenue in the village. Officers went to that location and discovered her body.
Muzzammil Hassan is the founder and chief executive officer of Bridges TV, which he launched in 2004, amid hopes that it would help portray Muslims in a more positive light.
According to Reuters (via Jihad Watch):
Bridges TV founder and Chief Executive Muzzammil Hassan founded the TV network in 2004. According to a Reuters story at that time, "his wife came up with the idea in December 2001 while listening to the radio on a road trip.":
"Some derogatory comments were being made about Muslims that offended her," Hassan told Reuters ahead of Tuesday's launch. "She was seven months pregnant, and she thought she didn't want her kids growing up in this environment."

Oh, dear God!
Now THAT is a headline you don't see every day even around here.
Bridges TV couldn't even convince Mr. Hassan to see Muslims in a more positive light. Not the one he was married to, anyway...
So..when will it hit the MSN??
I wonder if the MSN will put 2 and 2 together. Moderate-Muslim-behead =honor killing?
Mais, naturellement
Unless this man can prove that he acted out of insanity, which is very unlikely, he deserves to be sentenced with the death penalty. It is a pity that the state of New York does not carry out capital punishment.
This just in, Paul Crouch beheads wife.
Judging from his photograph, good thing it wasn't the other way around. She'd have been at it all day and having to take breaks to sharpen the knife.
I wonder if that road trip conversation took place before or after 9/11. No disrespect to the late Mrs. Hassan, but my bet is it was after, and from the wording it sounds as if she was much more concerned with the "derogatory comments" about Muslims that she was with the carnage 19 of them had just caused.
Well, we've got it, Jihad Watch has it, Sweetness and Light has it, but so far not one mention in the MSM have I found, not even on the local New York stations.
Btw, for anyone living in Manhattan? The D train went off the tracks at W 81st around 3:30pm, so the Upper West Side commute home should be lotsa fun...
Pastorius,
Well at least the police did their job.
Hell yeah! She deserved it! Filthy kafir biatch. One less islamic womb to pollute the world.
Oh boy. Anonymi are a treat, aren't they?
It's at the Buffalo newspaper website. (counts as MSM?) The DA said something like "this is the worst kind of domestic violence". Gosh, even worse than crucifixion, I guess.

This is the worst kind ...
???
He says it like he's encountered it before.
This has got to be the DA's first beheading. People don't just go around beheading each other day in and day out.
On reflection, I guess I should give the guy a break - I don't know what inanities might come out of my mouth were I to be confronted with something so horrible. I guess it was better than "DA responded with a soul-shattering scream and then fainted" - I would probably be catatonic if I had to look at pix like that. I'm afraid of Bare Naked Islam for that reason. . .

Good point, Ro.
IT's on MSNBC
