The Presbyterian Church in the United States (PCUSA) is about to release a report which denounces Israel as a “racist” nation which has absolutely no historical, covenantal, or theological right to the Holy Land. The report calls for the United States to withhold financial and military aid to Israel and for boycotts and sanctions against Israel.
That’s not all.
The report also endorses a Palestinian “right of return” and “apologizes to Palestinians for even conceding that Israel has a right to exist.” According to the press release, it also states that Israel’s history begins only with the Holocaust and that Israel is “a nation mistakenly created by Western powers at the expense of the Palestinian people to solve the ‘Jewish problem’.”
In addition, PCUSA has also resolved to divest in companies that supply military equipment to the American Army, e.g. Boeing, Lockheed-Martin, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, etc.
In 2004, this Church became the first mainline Protestant denomination in America to “approve a policy of divestment from Israel.” This was rescinded, but in 2008 the Church “created a committee dominated by seven activists holding strong anti-Israel beliefs. The lone member sympathetic to Israel, quit in protest when he saw their radical agenda.”
The Simon Wiesenthal Center notes that 46 members of the US Congress and Senate are Presbyterians and fears potentially “significant repercussions in the political domain” as well as a negative “impact on interfaith relations.” They urge us all to protest directly to the top leadership of the PCUSA “to stop this dangerous campaign which denies the legitimacy and security of Israel,” and to “reach out to your Presbyterian friends.”

I went and sent off an email at the site you linked to at the end of the post. Now I am being inundated via my email by letters from the PCUSA saying it is all a lie and they recognize that Israel is a sovereign state...anyone else have this happen?

My father chose to change from Methodist church to the Presbyterian church when he was in high school. He's gone now, but I think knowing his appreciation for the history of the Bible, he would be appalled at what this church is doing. Why don't they go ahead and merge with UU and get it over with?

US slams Israel over designating heritage sites
WASHINGTON -- The Obama administration criticized Israel Wednesday for designating two shrines on Palestinian territory as national heritage sites.
The criticism came as Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said she hopes long-stalled peace talks between Israelis and the Palestinians will resume. Clinton told a congressional committee that groundwork is being laid to restart the talks with the help of U.S. envoy George Mitchell.
She didn't say exactly when the negotiations might resume but her remarks come amid a flurry of U.S. diplomatic activity in the region.
They come as the United States, Russia and their Mideast peace partners are trying to organize a strategy session among top diplomats in the Russian capital next month to prod the two sides to relaunch the negotiations.
"We hope that that will commence shortly," Clinton told the Senate Appropriations Committee, referring to Israeli-Palestinian peace talks. "We think it is absolutely necessary that they begin to talk about the final-status issues that divide them, that have perpetuated the conflict over all of these years."
Underscoring those difficulties, the State Department on Wednesday sharply criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government for adding two shrines in the West Bank to Israel's list of national heritage sites. The move, announced Sunday, sparked Palestinian protests and has drawn criticism from other quarters, including the United Nations.

State Department spokesman Mark Toner said the administration viewed the move as "provocative" and unhelpful to the goal of getting the two sides back to the table.
Toner said U.S. displeasure with the designations of the Cave of the Patriarchs in the flashpoint town of Hebron and the traditional tomb of the biblical matriarch Rachel in Bethlehem had been conveyed to to senior Israeli officials by American diplomats.
The Palestinians claim all of the West Bank as part of a future state and also protested the Israeli move - a largely symbolic gesture - as a provocation and the move heightened long-standing tensions, particularly around the shrine in Hebron.
Jews revere the site as the Cave of the Patriarchs, where the Bible says the patriarchs Abraham, Isaac and Jacob were buried along with three of their wives. Muslims call it the al-Ibrahimi mosque, reflecting the fact that Abraham is considered the father of both Judaism and Islam.

Netanyahu: 'Heritage' list won't change West Bank status quo

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Thursday that his intentions in adding the two West Bank sites to the list of National Heritage sites were "misunderstood."
"There has been a misunderstanding, as we do not intend to alter the status quo, and we will maintain the freedom of worship for both the Jews and the Muslims at the sites," Netanyahu said.
"Just as we cooperated with the waqf and renovated the Muslim parts of the sites, we now want to renovate the Jewish sections as well," he added.
During the memorial the controversial site - the Tomb of the Patriarchs - will be open to Muslim worshippers alone.
Meanwhile, Hebron settlers commemorated the day by holding group prayers.
The IDF has beefed up its presence in the West Bank city following three days of riots protesting Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's recent move to add the Tomb of the Patriarchs, in Hebron, to the list of national heritage sites.
Following an outburst of violence in Hebron, where the tomb is located, Khaled Esseleh, the mayor of Hebron, said: "I'm hoping there won't be more clashes but this is a very sensitive religious issue, and Netanyahu just lit the fire."

Frankly, I think they ought begin archeological excavation of the site of the 1st and 2nd temple, where Omar UNQUESTIONABLY put the mosques he did for reason of religious and political conquest. AS it is, can there be ANY QUESTION that the tombs in question represent HERITAGE?

Well I totally agree with this church, thank-you some people are waking up. Orthodox Jews don't agree with the state of Israel, nor do any REAL G-d-fearing Jews who know why Jews are still in exile.
