Citizens Armed With Heavy Weapons Patrolling Drug-Smuggling Routes Along Arizona Border With Mexico, “We Will Use Lawful, Deadly Force When Appropriate”

From Weasel Zippers:

PINAL COUNTY, AZ - A group of citizens plans to arm themselves with heavy weaponry and patrol the Vekol Valley area of Pinal County, looking for drug smugglers entering the country. They plan to conduct their patrol operation from 3:00pm Saturday to 3:00pm Sunday.

“We’re going to block off the narcoterrorists that come up through this area,” said Mesa resident Jason “J.T.” Ready, who is organizing the gathering.

Ready says volunteers are coming from all over Arizona, and even out of state, to support the effort.

“This is the Minuteman Project on steroids,” Ready explained. “We’ve got people with assault weapons. We will use lawful, deadly force where appropriate.”

I does not help when "our" side uses the "assault" weapons mantra of the anti-gunners to describe civilian "patrol" rifles, er semi-auto rifles. And unless they also have crew served weapons ala Ma Duce, they are not heavy weapons.

Descriptions do matter, and I think a MSM flunky has written this in a very non accurate way to enflame the issue...Surprise!

Actually, sorta makes one wish Arizona wasn't such a damn long drive from here.

That being said, this sort of action is being made "necessary" because the federal government refuses to perform one of its few truly lawful functions, and is planning to sue the state of Arizona for having opted to protect its citizens.

Not to give myself too much credit, because you know my ass ain't out on the front lines, but what were my words upon reading the story of the Fed ceding these areas of Arizona to the Illegales Mexicanos?

Oh yeah, they were

"Sounds like work for a well-regulated militia."
