There is one great thing that you men will all be able to say after this war is over and you are home once again. You may be thankful that twenty years from now when you are sitting by the fireplace with your grandson on your knee and he asks you what you did in the great World War II, you WON'T have to cough, shift him to the other knee and say, Well, your Granddaddy shoveled shit in Louisiana. No, Sir, you can look him straight in the eye and say, Son, your Granddaddy rode with the Great Third Army and a Son-of-a-Goddamned-Bitch named Georgie Patton!

We need another Patton right now.

Interesting fellow, Patton. He was very petite and had a high-pitched nasal voice.

But he knew how to kick ass and to motivate the men under his command.

BTW, his uniforms are on display at the General George Patton Museum at Fort Knox. Lots of info at the above link.

Pasto,
Did your father talk with you about Patton's Army?

No, not much.

He was behind the lines. So, his life wasn't effected by Patton's decisions in the same way as if he had been on the combat line. He was a Radar Operator. He said he never saw combat.
