EDL Facebook Page Administrators Caught Signing Posts With 'Heil Hitler' Code

The English Defence League has gone to great lengths to disguise the seam of fascism running through its ranks, even engaging in the ostentatious burning of swastikas at organised rallies. But the true sympathies of EDL organisers were been laid bare today after administrators of their official Facebook page were caught out signing messages with “88″ – Nazi code for Heil Hitler. The symbolism of these numerals in far right circles is long established:

Eighty-eight is used as code among Neo-Nazis to identify each other. H is the 8th letter of the alphabet, so 88 is taken to stand for HH which in turn means Heil Hitler. For example, the number is used in the song “88 rock’n'roll band” by the neo-Nazi group Landser. The late convicted Order terrorist David Lane wrote “Fourteen Words” and 88 Precepts, and the numbers are often found in combination (1488, 14/88, etc.) … This form of the number has inspired the naming of the groups Column 88, Unit 88, White Legion 88 and Barselc88.

Disturbingly, the oiks went international this week in attending protests against the Park51 Islamic community centre in Lower Manhattan.

I want to believe in the EDL, because I'd like to believe there are good people out there who are willing to lay it on the line to fight against the violence and threats perpetrated by Muslims in the Western world.


We need people who are willing to go out on the street and demonstrate. Our governments are not doing their job, so we can not depend on them.


But alas, we can not depend on the EDL either.


The thing is, when there is a job that needs to be done, and no one else is up to doing the job, guess who it falls on to do the work;


You and I. 



We got Nazis to the left of us, and Nazis to the right.

If we gotta fight against twice as many people, so be it.
