The American arrested in Pakistan after shooting two men at a crowded traffic stop was part of a covert, C.I.A.-led team of operatives conducting surveillance on militant groups deep inside the country, according to American government officials.

Working from a safe house in the eastern city of Lahore, the detained American contractor, Raymond A. Davis, a retired Special Forces soldier, carried out scouting and other reconnaissance missions as a security officer for a Central Intelligence Agency task force of case officers and technical surveillance experts, the officials said.

This guy is an actual CIA field agent. The kind who does the rough work getting the intel that leads to killing bad guys. The kind who puts his life on the line. The kind of work that we all know needs to be done.

The kind that travels armed.

Thanks for outing him New York Times. There are reports that he's come close to being lynched in prison already. And outside there are mobs calling for his death.

I'm sure you felt the same way about the "outing" of the already outed pencil pusher Valerie Plame.

You are full of patriots dedicated to our nations safety and the safety the men who put their lives on the line for it.

The New York Times had agreed to temporarily withhold information about Mr. Davis’s ties to the agency at the request of the Obama administration, which argued that disclosure of his specific job would put his life at risk.

How brave of you to wait five days before outing an undercover CIA agent.

You couldn't f*cking wait until he was at least out of prison and of harms way?

You are patriots who truly love this country.

You love America the way an abusive husband loves his wife. You love the idealized version of her, but are ready at any moment to beat the shit out of her should she do something you disapprove of. You know, like spying on the enemies of the United States.
