Gauguin's Two Tahitian Women Attacked

The attack occurred at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. last week:
...Screaming “This is evil,” a woman tried to pull Gauguin’s “Two Tahitian Women” from a gallery wall Friday and banged on the picture’s clear plastic covering, said Pamela Degotardi of New York, who was there.

“She was really pounding it with her fists,” Degotardi said. “It was like this weird surreal scene that one doesn’t expect at the National Gallery.”

[...]

The suspect in the attack, who was not identified by name, was presented in court on Saturday....Details of the court appearance were not immediately available....
Here's something else interesting about the above story. The hard copy edition of the Washington Post shows the painting as in this posting. However, the online edition of the Washington Post has cropped a photo of the painting so as not to show the women's bare breasts:

I have to ask:

Was the woman who attacked the painting a Muslimah?

Why did the Washington Post crop that painting for the web version of the story?

Maybe someone here at IBA can do some digging and help me to the find the answers to those two questions.

Hi AOW.
I think you got a point there, don't tell me they have a 'morality police' at the Washington post?

Maybe the painting was removed for inspection to see if any damage was done.

Not being able to find out the attacker's name seems strange to me.

AOW,

I think WaPo has changed the photo to the full one now. I can see bare breasts and all in the painting posted on the left side of the online page of WaPo.

Maybe it was our own John Ashcroft cross dressed? :)

Can't wait to find out who it actually was!

AA,
How interesting that the graphic on the WaPo's web site has changed!

Makes me glad that I grabbed the one I saw there, huh?

Aha!

I'm looking at comments right now at the WaPo. There were several complaints about the cropped photo.

The woman's name is Susan Burns. She's 53 years old and lives in the Virginia 'burbs. She said the painting was evil because it depicted homosexuality.

According to THIS, Susan Burns said the following along with condemning the painting as "very homosexual":

I was trying to remove it. I think it should be burned ... I am from the American CIA and I have a radio in my head. I am going to kill you.'

According to the same source:

Burns has been arrested several times on has convictions for carjacking, disorderly conduct, trespassing, and assault on a law enforcement officer.

She served six months in jail after a 2006 conviction for assault and battery on a police officer.
