Washington Post: Even after Wisconsin win, Ted Cruz struggles to get establishment GOP support

Even after Wisconsin win, Ted Cruz struggles to get establishment GOP support

After his most convincing victory yet over Donald Trump in Wisconsin, Ted Cruz sought on Wednesday to shed his reputation as a divisive bomb-thrower and position himself as the candidate who can bring the Republican Party together.

But it wasn’t clear whether it was working. In Washington and across the country, many mainstream Republicans who despise Trump — including many supporters of former candidate Marco Rubio — are still declining to support the senator from Texas, whose antagonism toward GOP leaders has been the centerpiece of his political rise.

The lukewarm reception highlighted the difficulty Cruz faces in recasting himself as a bridge builder after years of bridge burning. Many top Republicans remain strongly opposed to both Cruz and Trump and hold out hope that long-shot candidate John Kasich, or perhaps another Republican not in the race, can somehow clinch the nomination.

“I think stopping Donald Trump has got to be the number one goal, and to rally around Ted Cruz in these future primaries I think is important,” said billionaire GOP donor Frank VanderSloot, who backed Rubio. “But neither I nor very many of the people I know are enamored with Ted Cruz, and I think that everyone is hoping it is a brokered convention where we can have a third choice.”

Cruz has to know this, DOESN'T HE?

Answer: YES!

TED CRUZ IS LIKE THE GUY IN THE CLUB WHO WANTS TO FUCK THE STRIPPER SO HE KEEPS PUTTING BENJAMINS IN HER BELT, WHILE ALL THE OTHER GUYS SIT BACK AND WATCH THE SHOW SHE'S PUTTING ON FOR THEM FOR FREE.

TED DOESN'T CARE IF THE STRIPPER ACTUALLY LIKES HIM OR NOT, HE BELIEVE, EVENTUALLY SHE'S GOING TO FUCK HIM.

SHE WON'T.

BUT HE IS DRUNK ENOUGH TO BELIEVE.

HE HAS TO BELIEVE.

UNTIL HE RUNS OUT OF BENJAMINS.

Maybe Cruz is such as Aspy that he doesn't see reality?

But Asperger's doesn't explain his flip flopping. Aspies perseverate.

Hmm. That's two good point right there.

Could it be,

1) he is Aspy so he doesn't know the stripper thinks he's disgusting

2) he's Aspy but he's calculating enough to lie

Are there any Aspy's who are calculating?

This is from my son in law...on facebook about my grandson:

A couple of weeks ago, our son Andy was watching a TV show with his mom. During a commercial, the narrator told a story about a young boy who finds it difficult to stay focused and is very sensitive to bright lights and loud noises. The narrator also explained how challenging it is for the little boy to look someone in the eye. The narrator said the boy is not trying to be rude, but it's just really hard for him. The boy also seems to only like a handful of foods, and doing the same thing at the same time every day keeps him in his comfort zone. At the end of the commercial, the young boy explained to the viewers that his parents told him that he had something called Autism. At that moment, Andy turned to his mom to say, "Hey mom, that's exactly how I feel! Do I have autism!?"

In a 30 second commercial, the narrator and this little boy achieved what Halie and I have been talking about doing for the past five years... when and how do we explain to Andy that he is on the Autism spectrum? How will he handle it? Will he understand? Well, as Halie always tells me, things happen for a reason. Halie seized on the opportunity to explain to Andy that he was indeed like this little boy and that he had Autism, too. Andy dug deeper and Halie explained that everyone's brain just works a little bit differently and things like sensory processing is harder for him than most of his friends. I wasn't home to witness this, but mom tells me that Andy took the news like a champ and it was like a huge weight had been lifted off his shoulders.

Later that night when I got home from work, Andy sat me down to tell me all about his news and how excited and proud he was that he has Autism. The next step? Telling the rest of his family and classmates. Two days later, after some back and forth between Andy's school counselor and his parents, Andy stood in front of his entire class to announce to everyone that he has Autism. This was completely his idea. He took questions from his classmates about what it is like and his teachers helped to provide some context. That wasn't good enough though. Andy stressed to us, his teachers, counselors and his principal that he wanted to do more.

Done and done.

This Monday at the Stanley School, all students and faculty have been encouraged to wear blue, and there will be a short, school-wide assembly to celebrate Autism Awareness. Andy and his classmates even made posters together to help promote it!

The night Andy sat me down to share his news, we logged on to the Autism Speaks website and I ordered him this t-shirt. He's wearing it proudly today and will be wearing it to school on Monday. As a friend would say, a huge tip of the hat to Andy, his mom, his sister and to anyone else out there that is affected by a friend or family member on the spectrum. Happy Autism Awareness Day!

....................................

Andy, my grandson, invented himself into a brave young man.

Whenever I have no patience to listen to stupidity I just tell everyone they'll have to excuse me because I have Asperberger's thus preying upon PC in the ultimate satisfaction, and they're never sure if I'm just obnoxious, or I'm obnoxious because I **AM** Asperberger and therefore not really obnoxious

Mrs Epa sez only someone with Aspberger's can act like that.

Cruz aspy? Not unless every inappropriate response or behavior is now universally going to be 'classified' as "aspy" (assuming you mean Aspergerber syndrome).
No...Cruz is an opportunistic politician, perhaps not as seasoned as a Kennedy (pious Catholic) ...yet as shrewd, ambitious and calculating.
