Hey I have a serious question ..

Can anyone think of a legal argument why the girls shower in Junior High School and High School is any different from the girls bathroom?

Or vice versa with boys?

Hello?

I can only think of George Costanza's issue as preventing some crazy shower scenes in high schools and junior high schools.

The WaPo states that locker rooms are included in Obama's directive.

I can state categorically that in 1966-67 and beyond going forward in time, I would have been far more ....'comfortable' in the showers with gals than guys.

PERIOD. END OF STORY.

PS, where does this end?

Especially for we men, who identify as lesbians, trapped in men's bodies? ;)

Epa,
Your "comfort" is all that matters now!

You were born too early.

Heh.

Whilst Epa chooses the "body beautiful" graphic, adolescents deal with many distinct body image issues. Rotund boys and girls are bullied when full clothed. Just wait to see what happens when the boys zero in on the portly girl with a jelly roll.

Little girls deal with greater body image issues than little boys. We need to talk about the elephant in the room. It is menarche. Average age for menarche in the U.S. is around 12 years with slight variations based on ethnicity.

We are all adults. We can discuss this. During this time of menarche and breast buds there should be a tenderness and a sensitivity attached to transitioning little girls into womanhood. This is the time when prudent parents can honor a daughter's right to privacy while she learns how to manage and maintain adequate hygiene practices during her menstrual cycle. My own mother taught me the discretion required to keep this monthly burden a private practice. And all of this, with four brothers.

If, per chance, as a father, you believe it is o.k. for your little girl to be stripped of her privacy then it is probably o.k. that you also shower with your daughter while she is on her menstrual cycle and do not give it a second thought. Why engage ANY boundaries at all?

Let's just find a few more ways to degrade our little girls. Come on, guys. Step up to the plate on behalf of the ladies.

Prince,
Spot on about the issue of menarche.

This is all about modesty and privacy ultimately.

The very LAST thing some 15 year old boy wants to visualize in a Beavis and Butt Head fantasy of nude junior high school is walking into a shower with naked girls some of whom are menstruating.

And I would presume that any female driven by more than curiosity into a male locker room is not thinking about the humor and 9th grade indecency end of things.

Why are THOSE rights of privacy and the sense of modesty secondary to anything?

Or is this the result of internet porn removing ANY of that?

The problem is, we have, by dint of numbers something ABNORMAL, and that abnormality is driving legal mandates

Build a goddamn 3rd bathroom and 3rd locker room and let whoever wants to USE IT, and keep M/F for M/F by DNA

I thought of that today. Why shouldn't we go that route?

Wait!

I read somewhere that such a solution was already offered and declared "discriminatory."
