(Newswire.com) – Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has surged to a 5-point lead over democratic rival Hillary Clinton in the key battleground state of Pennsylvania as per the poll conducted by CEPEX Center for Excellence in Project Execution, on Friday (19th Aug 2016). 

Trump leads Clinton 41.9 percent to 36.5 percent, with 21.5 percent voters undecided. Trump’s lead is just inside the margin of error and marks the first time that the Republican candidate is catching up in the traditional stronghold state of the democratic party. 

“With the undecided voters holding the key which way the state eventually goes in November, both the campaign teams will be tweaking their ground games to win over this key demographic” – Parth Mukherjee, Expert Principal, CEPEX Center for Excellence in Project Execution. “One of the reasons of Trump’s surge is attributable to increasing support from the women” – added Mukherjee.

The poll was conducted by a Canadian consulting firm called CEPEX which works in the oil and gas industry and has no background whatsoever in polling. This is their first.

The guys who run it have no credentials in media work. And a 7%+ margin of error makes it all but useless. Take this with a few truckloads of salt.

This story appeared on the website of a CBS affiliate in San Diego with disclaimers stating it was unverified. (Then they took it down, apparently).

The press release is from an outfit called Newswire. They're a pay-for-play place which charges for publication. You give them your press release and pay the fee and they'll put it out there for public consumption with no review or verification. The poll is from CEPEX, a consulting company which has zero background in polling or surveys.
