According to the Chicago Tribune and numerous other Democratic Party mouthpieces, the June 20, 2017 special election for the 6th District of the United States House of Representatives, was a referendum on Trump.
Well, Democratic Party candidate Jon Osoff lost to Republican Party candidate Karen Handel.
According to the New Yorker, this election result is a reality check for the Democrats.

If the balance shifts even a wee bit in the mid-term elections it is going to look like a complete rout.
Prediction? A couple of incumbents running for re-election in the mid-term are going to switch sides to save their asses. Really. I think that is what will occur.
Once again, Democrats, thank you for participating in the recent elections! Take your participation trophy and go home! smile
What's Next CNN?
It strikes me that the 24/7 cable news/entertainment business model is nearing end-of-life-cycle.
The need for ratings has pushed them too far into the realm of hyper-partisan infotainment.
The ease with which events can be live-steamed by participants and observers in-process has mooted the need of network teams for on-the-ground reporting.
It's all over but the bankruptcies.

I think so, too.
