Steve Wynn On Vegas Massacre and the Future of Security in Las Vegas

“This is a man who behaved rationally, privately, a little introverted, liked to play video poker. But he was a rational man. And every historical review of his behavior indicates that he was a rational man; so was his girlfriend. And yet he prepared over an extended period of time, a totally irrational act. “Now, this sounds like someone either totally demented — a behavior which he never evidenced — or someone who’s sending a message. This is a plan. We don’t know what that message is or if there is one, but this behavior, according to my employees, is as stunning, as unexpected as anybody, any of them have ever met. And that’s the status, you know, that I hear from the sheriff, and watching television that seems to be the moment — the momentary analysis of this situation. I really don’t have anything to add to that.”

How to explain Paddock's great wealth?

So far everything points to his success as a gambler. But...casinos are in the business of making, not losing, money. They don't give red carpet treatment to gamblers who routinely plunder them. From what I have seen and heard casinos figure out ways to bar gamblers who win too much or too often.

So I must assume Paddock was a net loser. Or a money launderer. So where IS the money coming from?

AND, it is absolutely impossible to win money on slot machines, as the odds are programmed into the slot machine itself No casino programs odds into slot machines that benefit the player. So, that means you always end up losing.

And that is only natural.

Paddock may have been on some sort of black ops budget from somewhere.

Exactly. A good gambler can get rich playing, for example, high stakes Poker. But that is going up against other high stakes players.

You don't get rich going to casinos and taking copious amounts of house money. Because, as you point out, the game is rigged against you. Anyone who consistently beats machines is by definition cheating. And the casino will make you PNG (not VIP) in short order.

So in my opinion the source of Paddock's wealth has NOT been adequately explained. Not even close. Some big piece of this guy's puzzle is missing.

A few facts that shouldn't be overlooked
1)The top floors of the Mandalay Bay are actually The Four Seasons Hotel which is owned 47.5% by Kingdom Holding Co. Kingdom Holding CO. is primarily owned by Saudi Prince Al-Waleed Bin Talal. Interestingly another 47.5% is owned by Bill Gates. Alwaleed has also invested in some of Gates charities.
2) March 2017 families of 850 people who died on 9/11 and another 1500 who were injured Filed a lawsuit in federal court suing the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This is a result of the Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act (JASTA). Obama vetoed the bill and was overrode by a Senate vote of 97-1.
3) Saudi Arabia's energy minister, Khalid al-Falih, when speaking to the WSJ about the law said "There could be consequences felt abroad as a result of JASTA".
4) Saudi Prince Alwaleed hates President Trump and stated that he is a "disgrace to all America" In 1980 when Trump filed bankruptcy Alwaleed bought Trumps mega-yacht. Strange.
5) Alwaleed once bought a 100 Bently cars and gave them to the 100 Saudi fighter pilots. Saudi fighter pilots were also in Las Vegas Aug5 to the 28th. Alwaleed, like Paddock, has thru out his life spent much more money than what he is seemingly capable of earning.

As I said in your next up post, this does not add up. Will we ever know.

Steve Wynn discusses the issue of extensive 2 or 3 day "Do Not Disturb" situations, suggesting his employees are trained to insist on checking on the guest to make sure illness isn't an issue.
Then Wynn reiterates that Paddock was a rational individual based on 6 years of prior behavior within his resort(s).

IMHO, Wynn's discussion of addressing the extended "Do Not Disturb" situation will not prevent another massacre.
Any number of alternate plans can be conjured particularly - if/when - multiple people & adjoining rooms/suites are in the plan matrix. It's not difficult to imagine a party of 2 or more booking adjoining rooms and outfitting a similar situation within a couple of hours during (check-in/out) overlap when one party extends stay by a few hours - off-putting the housekeeping staff until they become aware of off schedule checkout. A time during which none of the suspicious activity within either suite(s) would come to the resort staff's attention .

To RC in Kansas above:

On a previous thread, video of John Guandolo addressing the Las Vegas Massacre he states:
===>"This president went to Saudi Arabia and sat there while the Saudi King said you know we need to eradicate terrorism. With all the leaders of the Islamic nations who are on record saying that they only understand any of these issues - 'human rights', their definition of terrorism and extremism through 'sharia', through what Islam has these words mean. In Islam, 'terrorism' is killing a Muslim for a non-sharia prescribed reason. So, when the Saudi King is talking about dealing with terrorists and getting rid of terrorists, he's talking about our president. "

in other words, President Trump was unaware of the duplicitous intent behind the Saudi King's promises.

Guandolo specifies: ===>"I can tell you unequivocally, not to bash the Las Vegas PD and the Sheriff's office, but they simply do not understand this. And I can tell you because we've worked in Nevada and there is NO DEPTH OF KNOWLEDGE OF JIHAD, OF SHARIA. They have experience doing counter-terrorism investigations. And this is something I do want to make clear. When I critique the FBI, I'm NOT critiquing counter-terrorism agencies across the board for being bad agents. There are many, many, a great many men and women working in the FBI. What I'm saying is "INSTITUTIONALLY" and at a "NATIONAL SECURITY LEVEL" the Federal Government has CATASTROPHICALLY FAILED (reference to Stephen Coughlin's thesis!) the American people to identify the threat.
We haven't done it. We didn't do it under the Bush administration, under the Obama administration we still have not done it.
We have a National Security Advisor today that says ISIS has a bad interpretation of religion. This kind of "catastrophic" - and by the way, I want to make clear

AMERICANS ARE DEAD in Las Vegas BECAUSE THE NATIONAL SECURITY ADVISOR DOESN'T KNOW WHAT THE HELL HE'S DOING WHEN IT COMES TO THIS THREAT and HE SHOULD GO TO JAIL FOR THAT.

And so should, by the way, the previous Secretary of Homeland Security, and the one before that and the one before that.

WHEN PEOPLE ARE DEAD BECAUSE YOU'RE UNPROFESSIONAL - WE CALL THAT IN OUR LEGAL SYSTEM CRIMINAL NEGLIGENCE.
