International Religious Court: What An Incredibly Stupid Idea

Here's an article, from the Jewish Times, by Robert O. Freedman, wherein is proposed the idea that, because of the cartoon Jihad, we need to create an international religious court to settle cases of blasphemy. I'll tell ya, Robert O. Freedman is really thinking here, all steam whistling, gears clanking, gaskets popping. He's a regular juggernaut of idiocy:

While the Danish cartoonists may have sought to show, through their cartoons, that some Muslims were citing the Koran, and Muhammad, to justify suicide bombings, the cartoons had a very negative impact in the Muslim world where Muhammad is revered.

Complicating the situation further was the reaction of many in the West to the violence perpetrated by the Muslims protesting the cartoons. The Muslims were accused of double standards, since anti-Semitic and anti-Christian cartoons are widespread in the Arab and Muslim worlds, and when complaints are made about them, the response is usually “we have a free press” — precisely the words used by the Danes to justify their cartoons. ...

To solve that problem, I propose the creation of an International Religious Court, composed of Christian, Muslim and Jewish clergymen with one clergyman representing each of the three religions. Anyone feeling that his or her religion was insulted could appeal to the International Religious Court for a ruling on the matter, and the court would then determine whether a penalty should be invoked. It would be the responsibility of the government on whose territory the action took place to impose the penalty. ...

Given the very severe costs of the Danish Cartoon Crisis, establishing both an international code of conduct to prevent negative media depictions of religion, and an International Religious Court to determine whether that code has been violated, are needed to defuse future crises such as the one over the Danish cartoons. I urge the international community to create the code of conduct and establish the International Religious Court as quickly as possible.

Yesiree, that's some fancypants nuancin'.

And what about the Buddhists? Weren't they insulted when the Taliban, with Saudi and Pakistani technical support, demolished the Buddhas of Bamiyan?

Islam itself is a form of blasphemy. What kind of religion has a God who is a brothel-keeper?

I nominate Freedman for Moonbat of The Week award.

Ultimate oxymoron:

international code of conduct

What could be more insulting to Islam than the truth of its daily murder, oppression and tyranny? As for the fool who advocates such a court, I assume he is a self-hating Jew who can't wait to commit suicide.

No, criticism and ridicule are exactly what Islam needs, not only to demoralize them and slow their advance, but to awaken the comatose intelligentsia in the West and urge them to take more effective defensive action.

Regarding self-hatred in the West and civilizational suicide, I've not read wiser words than what I'm reading lately in Without Roots, a book consisting of the correspondence between Pope Benedict XVI (a year before he became Pope) and Italian philosopher Marcello Pera. I could just type the whole thing out, it is so brilliant. Especially (so far) Pera's 'deconstruction' of the Deconstructionists.

I think that this is a must-read, though it may go unnoticed due to its authorship in part by the head of the Catholic Church. I'd be reading this one even were I not a Catholic or even a Christian. Some of the most brilliant work on the problems of identity in Europe that I've yet read. And I read A LOT.

P.S.--hey, no response from Borders Corporate yet! What a shock! They were quick to answer regarding "Free Inquiry", but when it comes to anti-Catholic displays in stores, no word! Typical.

I'm sorry...

See, it is actually the Jews' fault. If we hadn't introduced the idea that the world is perfectable into a utopia, then none of this would have happened.

And, red diaper, doper babies like Freedman wouldn't put forth such moonbatish ideas. Judaism teaches that at the end of days the world will become perfect (the wolf will lie down with the lamb, ((and the lamb will get up {{grin}})), no war, etc.)

Some of these folks think that if we act like it is already perfect, then it will become perfect.

If Freedman thinks that the religious problems now are bad, just wait until he goes to appoint a Rabbi. What Conservative or Reform Rabbi is going to agree to a Chareidi Rabbi? Misnagdim will oppose Chassidim. Aharonis will oppose Zalmanis

And what about the Buddhists?

More importantly what about the Scientologists?
