What most news reports don’t mention is that she lied about being beaten, lied about the female genital mutilation and pretty much everything else. In fact she created the whole facade so she could take advantage of the anti-Muslim climate. How sad. j0nz - i hear you - i've left my comments on the pickled politics site re: what i think. but i don't think branding it a 'muslim' or lefty reaction is any more helpful.. the way i see this the poor woman's got caught between these two 'sides'. who's actually interested in her for herself? all this type of reactionary reactions...
anyhow i agreed with you about people not knowing what her life was like in somalia, and certainly about how courageous she is. Phooey to all these people slagging her off - can they say they wouldn't do much the same thing if they were in her shoes? I probably would. And why not - what's she done that's so f***king bad anyway - told some lies? yah well who hasn't lied? these damn politicians are up to it all the time.

Sonia is a regularly commentor and contributor to PP. They have a wide range of contributors, and I'd like to make clear that is not the tone of PP in general. Sunny, Rohin and others do generally make very good posts.

Bullocks! Of coarse she didn’t lie about her mutilation…it’s virtually unheard of for a Somali woman her age not being circumcised. It would be a great shame upon her family if she wasn’t. No one would marry her and she would be regarded as an outcast. These people are just out to smear her name.
As for the beatings…it too is very common. Husbands beating their wives and parents physically beating their children is quite normal in traditional Somali society. Don’t take my word for it, you can find it recorded in the work of social anthropologists who studied the region.
Hirsi Ali speaks the truth about Islam. And the Left and the Islamofascists are doing anything and everything they can to discredit her. Thinking people won't be fooled, and there is no help for those who refuse to think anyway.

I don't know if you have checked out the Hirsi Ali Babe of the Week comments thread, but it is now over 40 comments long. Quite a few of them are from Durth lefties who are spreading the same kind of bullshit about Hirsi Ali.
Never do they offer any proof.
One woman claims Hirsi Ali is just a careerist. It seems Hirsi Ali is trying to make a career out of her lack of a clitoris.
God, what an opportunist.
I have difficulty understanding the kind of people that would knock this courageous woman down. The think she has "done more harm than good for the Muslim population". Which is of course bollocks if you happen to be a victim of repression in the name of Islam.
