Canada Cries “Don’t Gore Our Sacred Cow!”

From The Gathering Storm

Canada is throwing it’s spine out over the threat to their sacred cow –multiculturalism. Or is it just losing its spine?

The recent arrests of home grown terrorist in Canada has the multiculturalist political correct Libs all in a tizzy trying to find out why terrorists can arise from their peaceful little liberal “I’m OK. You’re OK.” world. At the University of Toronto debate this week on the roots of terrorism in Canada, the discussion was heated but there was one thing the panel and audience members seemed to agree on. The recently uncovered alleged terror plot had nothing to do with multiculturalism.

''There is really no evidence in this case as there was no evidence in the Netherlands, as there was no evidence in the UK that there is any logical, causal relationship between policies of multiculturalism and the formation of such (radical) groups,'' Melissa Williams, director of the Centre for Ethics at U of T, told the crowd.

What the heck is this woman smoking? With one broad brush stroke she defended the now discredited idea that multiculturalism as it’s practiced in Europe and Canada is not the cause of the radicalization of Islamic youth. Licia Corbella, editor of the Calgary Sun disagrees. She interviews a Canadian Muslim, Professor Mahfooz Kanwar, Professor of Sociology/Criminology at the Department of Behavioral Sciences at Mount Royal College on multiculturalism and comes up with the real truth behind multiculturalism.

Multiculturalism takes away our complete undivided loyalties to this country. Multiculturalism has been bad for unity in Canada. It ghettoizes people, makes them believe, wrongly, that isolating themselves and not adapting to their new society is OK. It is not,” says Kanwar, a devout Muslim.

Now this is a Muslim speaking not your Islamophobic infidel.

“And political correctness threatens us because we can’t fight something we refuse to label and understand.”

HOLY REVELATION, BATMAN! A Muslim who says we have to label our enemy so we can fight it! If a Muslim sees the problem, why can’t our political leaders and the MSM?

Kanwar, 65, says the amount of political correctness stemming from last weekend’s arrests of 17 radicalized Muslims in the Toronto area is “sickening” and “dangerous.”

“Everybody was tripping over themselves not to state the obvious, that these men mostly attended the same mosque,” said Kanwar, referring to the Al-Rahman Islamic Centre—a small store-front mosque in Mississauga, a suburb just west of Toronto, that twists true Islam.

“Toronto police Chief Bill Blair actually boasted that “there was not one single reference made by law enforcement to Muslim or the Muslim community” at the post-arrest news conference a week ago.”

You know, that ‘broad strata of society’.

“That is an absurdity. Political correctness has gone too far. Political correctness threatens our society,” said the Pakistani-born Kanwar. “It is the responsibility of the minorities to adjust to the majority, not the other way around,” added Kanwar.

Read it all at The Gathering Storm.

The Muslim who spoke out against multiculturalism is a rare bird indeed. We here in the USA need to take a lesson from the UK and now Canada, or we will be next on this slippery slope.

Multiculturalism - NO
Honest respect for our fellow humans, if they return that respect, yes.

Multiculturalism equals opliteration of freedom

Multiculturalism can equal the downfall of a country, as we have seen in Europe recently. I'm not talking about the multiculturalism that "stresses mutual respect and tolerance for cultural differences within a country" that we here in America practice every day of our lives.

What I am talking about is "multiculturalism that seeks to obliterate the value of a free, industrialized civilization (which today exists in the West and elsewhere), by declaring that such a civilization is no better than primitive tribalism. More deeply, it seeks to incapacitate a mind’s ability to distinguish good from evil, to distinguish that which is life promoting from that which is life negating."

When I read in the Vancouver Sun yesterday that "alienated youth", not multiculturalism, was identified as the problem underlying the planned terror attacks by speakers at a debate at U of Toronto, my first thought was: Social Workers.

"Alienated youth" is code in Canada for, "Hire more social workers." When there is a problem with a minority group in a Canadian city, more social workers is the formulaic solution.

Alienated Muslim youth are the current flavour of the month for the social work establishment. But a couple of months ago, it was “alienated” Indo-Canadian youth shooting each other in Vancouver. And a few months before that it was “alienated” black youth with Jamaican accents shooting at each other on Yonge St.

This social work solution doesn't work. It has proven to be an Orwellian nightmare on Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, where I live. The DTES has a high population of aboriginal people, poor people, and drug users, all considered alienated enough to warrant a social work extravaganza. Social workers, nurses, and street workers roam the streets. These workers must constantly manufacture case files to attract public funding and keep their good union jobs. The result is a 'case file economy'.

Everyone is a potential case file. Even when people speak up about political issues, they may find themselves targeted for a “well being” assessment by one of these psych/social worker types. They literally show up at people's homes in police "Car 87", the psych/social work car used to harass people against whom there is no evidence (a service implemented by the NDP, incidentally.) One woman criticized United Way’s practices on the DTES and got targeted. Four people who independently spoke up about a violent teacher, shut up when one of them was targeted. Even when a targeted individual is “cleared”, the case file remains permanent.

This case file drive is so out of control that a former Board member of the DTES Women’s Center complained that people were being approached on the street by social work/psych nurse types eager to generate a case file. My friend Louis got targeted for a psych assessment for merely raising questions about the side-effects of blood pressure medication he was prescribed at a DTES clinic. He yelled at the Car 87 nurse, "Who the hell gave you my private cell phone number?!" They left him alone then, but I told him he should get a copy of the report because they probably got even there.

It has been confirmed from copies of police reports that street workers and nurses are even sharing medical files with police without the necessary court orders. One cop, Const. J.P. St. Amant, was dumb enough to admit in his written report that a medical file of an individual who had criticized a social service organization had been read to him over the telephone by a nurse.

Just last week, DTES resident Bill Simpson stood on the steps of the Carnegie Community Centre handing out pamphlets about how social 'service' workers were eroding human rights of residents to make a buck. He, like many people, had been barred from the Center for daring to exercise his right to freedom of expression.

Canada's Social Work Solution is a failure. And it is certainly no match for terrorists. It's a scam to match liberals with pay cheques and to keep union coffers filled with dues. But it steals civil liberties from everybody else. It's enough to make you want to jump off the Peter Mansbridge.

I went back and read the interview with Kanwar -- a brave Canadian -- and the subsequent comments by debbie because I am still getting a handle on the critique of multiculturalism.
Debbie clarified the issue for me when she noted that mutliculturalism can ignore the value of a free modern society by treating it as "no better than primitive tribalism."
This made me think of something I heard Bill Maher, formerly of the Politically Incorrect show, say on Larry King Live. Maher said that our society is "superior" to those in the Middle East -- because we treat women better, etc., etc. I thought, "This guy is really sticking his neck out by using the word 'superior.'" I was taught at university not to be enthocentric so I had taken the word "superior" out of my vocabulary.
