Cathy Young, a writer for the Boston Globe and Reason magazine, is waging a campaign against "Islamophobes." She attacks Fallaci in today's Boston Globe, and Jihad Watch and Hugh Fitzgerald in the June issue of Reason magazine.
Fallaci gets the treatment in "Extremism and bigotry" in today's Globe. Some extracts, with my comments:
Such labels as ``bigotry" and ``Islamophobia" are often indiscriminately slapped on all outspoken critics of fanatical Muslim radicalism. But the real thing does exist....
Back in March, I posted the following article about Milosevic. She didn't bother to quote what Milosevic said, but calls us 'racists or bigots' for presenting his statements which are certainly prescient and worthy of consideration.
Here is what I posted about Milosevic:
At the opening of the trial when Milosevic presented pictures of beheaded Serbs and Judge May said that is irrelevant, Milosevic said:
"It's not on the screens that the public sees. Right. I see it on this screen now. But this internal screen only. So he is holding a head, the head of a Serb that he cut off. So those are the 20.000 Mujahedin that were brought to the European theatre of war through Clinton's policy, and most of them remained there and some went to America and to other countries, and they went all around Europe. And then when they start beheading your own people in wars to come, then you will know what this is all about."

Hey Cathy...perhaps you missed your chance to kowtow to the KKK, after all... WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE between the Stone and the Tree (if you ever heard of it) and what the KKK taught? Unless, of course you think the jews don't count as racist targets becasue they really are different.

I find her irresponsible to blather on when she has no fundamental understanding of the issues.
Worse and MORE ignorant for the Globe to publish it...but the again, one is compelled ot remember the porno photos of Iraq they published as authentic.
Cathy Young is today's Exhibit A backing up the case that the unprincipled egalitarian loco wing of the Libertarians is in command of that movement. This is what happens when you have no principles beyond People Everywhere Just Wanna Be Free.
Somebody give her a link to the photos on Atlas of peaceful Iranian women protestors being beaten, I seem to recall that she gets off on that sort of "manliness". Or maybe the baton-weilding female Iranian police are more her style.
The ignorance isn't as appalling as the blind determination to maintain that ignorance at all costs in the face of overwhelming evidence that the nightmare is afoot. When knowing the truth is dangerously "Un-PC", the pretentious can take pride in their ignorance, to say nothing of cash in on it. Read any current interview with "Terrorist" author John Updike, who blithely admits he doesn't really know all that much what he's talking about when it comes to radical Islam. But hey, he's rich and famous, so he can write whatever drivel he pleases and readers will take it as gospel because John Effing Pulitzer-Winning Updike wrote it. So his teenage "hero" would-be Jihadist is just "what we're all trying to raise, this really nice, upright boy, full of faith and seriousness... the model kid, except [he's] trying to kill us all." Sweet.
Congrats are definately in order!
