China sub secretly stalked U.S. fleet..UNDETECTED..and surfaces UNDETECTED in missile range of the same missile which whacked the Israeli SAAR fired in July
A Chinese submarine stalked a U.S. aircraft carrier battle group in the Pacific last month and surfaced within firing range of its torpedoes and missiles before being detected, The Washington Times has learned. The surprise encounter highlights China's continuing efforts to prepare for a future conflict with the U.S., despite Pentagon efforts to try to boost relations with Beijing's communist-ruled military. The submarine encounter with the USS Kitty Hawk and its accompanying warships also is an embarrassment to the commander of U.S. forces in the Pacific, Adm. William J. Fallon, who is engaged in an ambitious military exchange program with China aimed at improving relations between the two nations' militaries. Disclosure of the incident comes as Adm. Gary Roughead, commander of the U.S. Navy's Pacific Fleet, is making his first visit to China. The four-star admiral was scheduled to meet senior Chinese military leaders during the weeklong visit, which began over the weekend.A quick word about this Chinese designed boat...
The Type 039 (Song class) diesel-electric torpedo submarine is China’s first new-design, conventionally powered submarine since the introduction of the Type 035 (NATO cldename: Ming class) in the early 1970s. it is designed for anti-submarine warfare (ASW) and anti-surface warfare (ASuW), but is also capable of general reconnaissance, water mine laying and patrol missions. The submarine is a blend of Chinese and Western technologies, and represents a major step forward in China’s conventional submarine design.
According to the defense officials, the Chinese Song-class diesel-powered attack submarine shadowed the Kitty Hawk undetected and surfaced within five miles of the carrier Oct. 26.
The surfaced submarine was spotted by a routine surveillance flight by one of the carrier group's planes. The Kitty Hawk battle group includes an attack submarine and anti-submarine helicopters that are charged with protecting the warships from submarine attack.

Okay, I'm crass and crude - how do I join the Infidel Bloggers Alliance. I always need help with logos, and I need help attaching the blogrolls but how do I participate with you?
Sorry, it does not make sense that they would tip their hand by surfacing. It's absolute stupidity to have that kind of an advantage and let us know.
It's the famous niener-niener maneuver
China must not have heard about the collison that happened between a U.S. Sub and a Rusky Sub back a few years ago, when the Ruskies were tryin to sneak around the U.S. Sub ..
And where the hell were those damned dolphins we are supposed to have trained to detect those enemy subs ??
Seriously, subs like the Kilo, and the SOng and it's follow on class are VERY quiet if not that fast, have always presented a VERY difficult challenge.
There are no machinery noises (it's all electric when submerged), so if you have a well milled prop, that's been well designed..you are a hole in the ocean. Now if the americans are tooling around at 30+ knots, those boys cannot keep up with the US fleet, but if you position yourself in front of the fleet, and are creeping about at 2-3 knots, and below the thermocline...you can kill a carrier before you die.
Just discovered a new take on this submarine story- apparently nothing to worry about, according to submariners. I have no expertise at all in this area so all I can do is point you to what they are saying and let you take it whatever way you want.

Pas, I was just throwin a little chum in the waters here to see if I could draw out any of the PETA Terrorists lurkin about..
Last I heard about the Dolphin Brigade, PETA was on full alert to protest em bein trained for duty..
But what REALLY has my mind wonderin, is whether the UPROAR over sonar use in the Hawaiin Waters had anythang to do with the Sub bein able to sneak up on the Carrier Fleet ?? Dont reckon the sonars might have been disabled due to a new requirement over Hawaii, do you ?? Wouldnt it be a bad case of the SHITS if that was the case ??
