"Why can't you realize that it has nothing to do with what you have done but with what they want."

But I can tell you what it is not about. Not about Israel, not about Iraq, not about Afghanistan. They are mere excuses. Algerian Muslim fundamentalists murdered 150,000 other Algerian Muslims, sometimes slitting the throats of children in front of their parents. Are you seriously telling me that this was because of Israel's treatment of the Palestinians or American foreign policy?"

azzam_abd.jpgFrom the National Post of Canada:

Dr. Tawfik Hamid doesn't tell people where he lives. Not the street, not the city, not even the country. It's safer that way. It's only the letters of testimony from some of the highest intelligence officers in the Western world that enable him to move freely. This medical doctor, author and activist once was a member of Egypt's Al-Gama'a al-Islamiyya (Arabic for "the Islamic Group"), a banned terrorist organization. He was trained under Ayman al-Zawahiri, the bearded jihadi who appears in Bin Laden's videos, telling the world that Islamic violence will stop only once we all become Muslims.

He's a disarmingly gentle and courteous man. But he's determined to tell a complacent North America what he knows about fundamentalist Muslim imperialism.

"Yes, 'imperialism,' " he tells me. "The deliberate and determined expansion of militant Islam and its attempt to triumph not only in the Islamic world but in Europe and North America. Pure ideology. Muslim terrorists kill and slaughter not because of what they experience but because of what they believe."

Hamid drank in the message of Jihadism while at medical school in Cairo, and devoted himself to the cause. His group began meeting in a small room. Then a larger one. Then a Mosque reserved for followers of al-Zawahiri. By the time Hamid left the movement, its members were intimidating other students who were unsympathetic.

He is now 45 years old, and has had many years to reflect on why he was willing to die and kill for his religion. "The first thing you have to understand is that it has nothing, absolutely nothing, to do with poverty or lack of education," he says. "I was from a middle-class family and my parents were not religious. Hardly anyone in the movement at university came from a background that was different from mine.

The truth, laid bare.

The intuitive response to watching acts of terror from a safe distance might be that the actors are fueled by some guiding purpose such as empowering the enslaved, or freeing themselves from the shackles of tyranny. But that response is wrong.

The tyrannical oppressors are the one's murdering innocent people. they do so only because of a burning need for domination and subjigation of the non-believer. Not because they need raw materials for manufacturing, or a warm-water port for export, or to avenge a generations-old insult.

They want you dead. You and me. In front of as many horrified and formerly naive civilians as possible. Dead. Throats cut, wailing families, bombed first-responders, and murdered children. All to forward a cult's popularity.

We are at war. An unconventional one with unconventional participants, but a war nonetheless. It is a deadly miscalculation to view the enemy as a criminal element worthy of the due process of law as if they had stolen a car. The enemy is an undercover operation very able and willing to kill you at their best opportunity, whether that's your kids' birthday party or your mistresses bedroom. No matter.

Good luck to the American Democratic party and that appeasement approach. Blow up a few ballons for them and they'll blow up a few more buildings for you. Thanks a lot.

In Britain the universities are major sources of new Jihadist recruits:

Great posting, Epa.

I wonder if Islam is a mechanism for the creation of psychopaths such as serial killers.

Is that what they are? Serial killers, who had no normal upbringing but have been brought up with madmen fathers and imams and lots of sexual repression and now to satisfy some sick sexual lust go bananas?

I coin Islam the religion of psychopaths and serial killers.

BTW there is no cure for psychopaths. You must either drug them, lock them up or exterminate them.

Look up psycopathty here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychopaths

Here is one very fitting fragment:
Hare describes psychopaths as "intraspecies predators who use charm, manipulation, intimidation, and violence to control others and to satisfy their own selfish needs. Lacking in conscience and in feelings for others, they cold-bloodedly take what they want and do as they please, violating social norms and expectations without the slightest sense of guilt or regret.

and another:
It has been shown that punishment and behavior modification techniques do not improve the behavior of a psychopath. They have been regularly observed to respond to both by becoming more cunning and hiding their behavior better. It has been suggested that traditional therapeutic approaches actually make them, if not worse, then far more adept at manipulating others and concealing their behavior. They are generally considered to be not only incurable but also untreatable.

Von Schlicht,
I thought that to be true of psychopaths. However, I did not realize that psychology had actually acknowledged that they can not treat a particular brand of person. I thought that was something only people with common sense had gotten around to acknowledging so far.

Pastorius,
I don't think there is a consensus on this - but the knowledgeable people I know all share this opinion.

Of course I can't speak for the socialists. If you ever want go to jail - I can recommend Denmark or nearby countries.

You usually get no more than 10 years for a killing and then you rarely serve more than half. 16 years is maximum sentence. (There is possibility for a sentence of "keep him until he improves" - but it is very rare.)

Prison is like a hotel. Your own room with a TV and a fridge. You can study, work or just take it easy. Of course you will have an allowance to shop in the shop. Here you buy your own food and cook it with your cell mates. (I don't know if that goes for the cannibals as well).

Cell-doors are only locked at night.

Your wife, girlfriend or hooker can come visit. They have special rooms with no surveillance, a bed and bucket of condoms.

Drugs are more readily available in jail than outside.

After some time in jail you start having accompanied exits, then weekends and finally holidays. Eventually unaccompanied.

Now the purpose of this whole thing is rehabilitation. According to some ignorants even the psychopaths can be rehabilitated.

A professor of psychology known to me used to take students to jail to show the students examples of diverse mental diseases. One of the main attractions of course the killer psychopath. Often the psychopaths are rather intelligent and well spoken and enjoy the attention. Of course that helps them to get out of jail even earlier. According to the professor he could tell for sure who would commit crimes again.

But heaven forbid that we locked people up to protect society. After all the prevalent opinion is that society is to blame for crime. Poor criminals.

It helps to explain the appeasing apologist attitude towards the Islamofascists.

But it does not make sense!
