Embrace Your Infidel-ity!

And drive the Jihadis nutz.

Had a long afternoon & evening filling out student loan stuff for Daughter #1. & my mom's birthday thrown in there. Chillin' time.

So some late night soothe the savage breast stuff.

A most beautiful Mingus number, With Joni Mitchell, Pat Methany, Michael Brecker and Jaco Pastorius (no no no, not him, the other guy). A Jazz supergroup if you will.

Jaco shreds. . .

Jaco, Joe Zawinul, Wayne Shorter and a song that DEFINED Fusion.

And thanks, Pasto, for the link in comments. Never get tired of hearing that song ;>)

Cool...my son's a bassist and a huge Jaco fan. Jaco's story is a tragic one.

Obviously, I'm a huge Jaco fan as well. His story is very tragic. One wonders if things would have been better for him today, considering there is more understanding of mental illness and drug addiction. Someone might have gotten him some help. By the time anyone recognized there was anything wrong with him, he had already gone very far into his illnesses.

Thing is, we will always have his beautiful music and the stunningly intimate way he had with the bass guitar. He added a lot to the human race and our spiritual experience.
