Obama Will Reduce US Nuke Arsenal By 80%

From Gateway:

"I'm the only major candidate who opposed this war from the beginning. And as president I will end it. Second, I will cut tens of billions of dollars in wasteful spending. I will cut investments inunproven missile defense systems. I will not weaponize space. I will slow our development of future combat systems. And I will institute an independent "Defense Priorities Board" to ensure that the Quadrennial Defense Review is not used to justify unnecessary spending. Third, I will set a goal of a world without nuclear weapons. To seek that goal, I will not develop new nuclear weapons; I will seek a global ban on the production of fissile material; and I will negotiate with Russia to take our ICBMs off hair-trigger alert, and to achieve deep cuts in our nuclear arsenals."
Barack Obama

Here's the video:

Obama wasn't kidding.
It looks like his 2007 promises are about to come true.
The Times Online reported today that Barack Obama will cut America's nuclear arsenal by 80% and renege on the promised missile defense systems for our allies in Europe:

President Obama will convene the most ambitious arms reduction talks with Russia for a generation, aiming to slash each country’s stockpile of nuclear weapons by 80 per cent.

The radical treaty would cut the number of nuclear warheads to 1,000 each, The Times has learnt. Key to the initiative is a review of the Bush Administration’s plan for a US missile defence shield in Eastern Europe, a project fiercely opposed by Moscow.

Mr Obama is to establish a non-proliferation office at the White House to oversee the talks, expected to be headed by Gary Samore, a non-proliferation negotiator in the Clinton Administration. The talks will be driven by Hillary Clinton’s State Department.

No final decision on the defence shield has been taken by Mr Obama. Yet merely delaying the placement of US missiles in Poland and a radar station in the Czech Republic — which if deployed would cost the US $4 billion annually — removes what has been a major impediment to Russian co-operation on arms reduction.
Obama's college thesis at Columbia was reportedly on Soviet nuclear disarmament.
Isn't it about time someone dug that up?

World Net Daily has more on Obama's latest feckless defense move.

STANLEY BALDWIN
who took power in a sweeping set of elections, leading a public wanting to be led away from war, strife and anything threatening.

No politician could beat his election set of ideas.
None ever did beat him or his protege, Neville.

Something else did, but it was not the public at the voting booth.

This is something we should all take very seriously in the next few years.

Barack Obama is liable to lead us to the same fate as Stanley Baldwin

Smart money is betting that way, Epa.

In under 2 weeks just about any reason to give the man a chance is being wiped away.

I could be wrong, but it seems to me Obama's policies are so far out of the mainstream of America that he may end up having to resign.

The unhappiness with Bush is nothing compared to what I believe is going to come down the pike for Obama if he does not CHANGE his ways.

He has some dangerous ideas. Abandoning our allies in this missile defense systems, cutting down on our nuclear weapons at a time when Iran will likely have their own. Iran has already said that Obama's desire to talk shows the weakness of the Americans. This weakness gives our enemies hope that we will give in more and more to their demands if we are attacked. Obama's ideas are dangerous, but he also has a strong desire to be popular. I don't think the American people will support his more foolish ideas. Hopefully they wake up soon enough.

Cutting nukes by 80%!? Unless he intends on fully modernizing the remaining 20% or endorses the development of new types of nuclear weapons to compensate for the loss of the 80% (haha, yeah right), he is out of his bloody mind. Vladimir Putin and Hu Jintao must be laughing their asses off at such a pushover; all while viewing the results of their latest ballistic missile tests. Epaminondas, I am starting to share your fears that Obama is indeed the presidential resurrection of Jimmy Carter.

Bad as Carter was I think there is just something more sinister with Obama. Carter was foolish. Obama is calculating.

And, he seems to think it far more important that he is our first black president, and all the "status" that conveys, than to be Our President.

Matt,
Notice how he is concerned with "non-proliferation", but he's not concerned about the prospect of Iran getting nukes.

Yes I have noticed that Pastorius. I suspect it is because we need to be more tolerant of Islam, why would we be scared of Iran having a nuclear weapon, after all Islam is a religion of peace. Meanwhile, the United States is truly the evil ones, after all we have used nuclear weapons. This is how liberals think, including Obama.

This guy is going to get a lot more innocent people killed, if only because his dhimmitude will further embolden the barbarity of the blood-lusting, demon-possessed, soul-less jihadist thug-bullies.

It could end in a nuclear exchange, too. America needs to "choose its words carefully" to avoid offense? Well, after reading the "rape to humiliate unto suicide bombing stories", I have finally come to see that the only "offense" needed to justify the most gruesome acts is the existence of even one innocent human life. This dark hellishness will kill, kill, kill until only it remains.

We are facing an evil the magnitude of which is appreciated by almost no one in this country or in Europe, it seems.

God help us.

I have to stop reading the anti-jihad sites for a while. It is just too sad. I cannot bear anymore stories of the annihilation of innocents because they happen to be in the path of the Satanic ravening beast, knowing that our government has decided to "dialogue in a respectful way" with the state sponsors of these cannibals.

MR -

I know enough about the jihadists now. No reason to keep reading about yet another way they have discovered to inflict maximum suffering on children and women.

Am turning my attentions to defeating the censorship push and the nefarious "hate speech" (read "thought crimes") legislation. Working with ACT, the Media Research Center, the ACLJ, etc. may let me contribute in some way to help keep our government OUT of our God-given rights to expression.

If this administration and congress succeed in censoring the various media through "fairness," oppressing dissent through "thought crime" prosecution, and subject the free citizens of this republic to the tender mercies of the UN political correctness thugs we are well and truly lost long before another act of jihadist-thug bully violence is carried out on our shores.

Rose -- my apologies. I misread your statement as seemingly giving up. Which is obviously far from what you're doing. Awesome. We each fight this in our own way. And the work you're doing is incredibly important if we here are to be allowed to continue doing what we do.

GOd bless you and good luck.

MR - no need to apologize! No offense taken at all. I know EXACTLY how you feel.

Thanks for your good wishes and prayers - and the same to you and all those engaged in the fight for the survival of our civilization.

Best and bye for now,

R.
