Abraxas

"We stood before it and began to freeze inside from the exertion. We questioned the painting, berated it, made love to it, prayed to it: We called it mother, called it whore and slut, called it our beloved, called it Abraxas...."

Yep I was also lucky to catch this

Friday 17 April 1970 19:30: Steamhammer, Flock, Johnny Winter

Saturday 18 April 1970 19:30: Taj Mahal, It's a Beautiful Day, Santana

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i4TwOclvdNg&feature=related

This was a few months before the Bath Festival, where Santana, Johnny Winter and Steppenwolf again played.

With the Royal Albert Hall gig the PA packed for part of the set and they play acoustic, it went down well

This was the best line up he ever had.

The guy who stood out most was drummer Mike Schrieve.

When he left he done some great stuff with

Stomu Yamash'ta, and Klaus Schulze

Here is some goldies to look for

Go Live From Paris – with Stomu Yamash'ta, Steve Winwood, Klaus Schulze, Al Dimeola (1976)

Go Too – with Stomu Yamashta (1977)

Mickie D's Unicorn (1979)

Time Actor: Klaus Schultze and Arthur Brown (1979)

Klaus Schulze - Audentity (1983)

Klaus Schulze - Trancefer/Dig It (1999)

Sorry to finish off on a sour note but I think Sanata himself is a royal wanker. He prove that at the 77th Annual Academy Awards in February 2005 where he arrive sporting his Che Guevara T-shirt.

I wonder long long Sanata would have survived in the presence of the Che Guevara the darling of pop culture

If any body has Go Too – with Stomu Yamashta (1977)any chance you could upload to Rapidshare..

Shiva -- I don't like Santana's politics at all -- maybe 10 minutes before Che would have had him up against the wall? -- but I love his music.

There are some guitar players you recognize as soon as you hear their guitar. Santana's one. BB King. Dickey Betts and Duane Allman. Clapton. Stevie Ray. Sonny Landreth and a number of others.

The really good ones you need to read the liners for. The great ones you can name as soon as their guitar sings.
