Terrorist Attack Averted? Authorities Seize Grenade Launcher, Weapons Cache And Maps Of A U.S. Military Facility From Virginia Man...

UPDATES KEEP COMING, SO I'M BUMPING THIS BACK UP TO THE TOP

From Weasel Zippers:

A Jihadi attack plot?..

(nj.com) - Somerset County investigators seized a cache of weapons including a grenade launcher and hundreds of rounds of ammunition today from the Branchburg motel room of a Virginia man, who also had maps of a U.S. military facility and an out-of-state civilian community.

Lloyd Woodson, 43, whose last known address was Reston, Va., today faces multiple offenses, including second-degree unlawful weapons possession and fourth-degree possession of prohibited weapons, Somerset County Prosecutor Wayne Forrest said.

At the time of his arrest, Woodson was wearing a military-style ballistic vest with a reinforced steel plate and carrying a .223-caliber assault rifle that had been altered to fire .50-caliber ammunition, Forrest.

He was also carrying four loaded magazines with hollow-point ammunition, Forrest said. Branchburg police confronted Woodson at 3:55 a.m. at the Quick Chek convenience store on Route 28 after receiving a call reporting a suspicious person.

Branchburg Patorlman Steven Cronce noticed a large bulge beneath the green, military-style jacket that Woodson was wearing, which was later determined to be the assault rifle with a defaced serial number, Forrest said. Woodson appeared "extremely nervous" as Cronce questioned him, and he ultimately ran from the convenience store toward the Regency Trailer Park on Route 22, Forrest.

Officers found Woodson hiding in the bushes and he attempted to run, Forrest said. Officers tackled him and used pepper spray to subdue Woodson, Forrest said.

Detectives later searched Woodson’s room at the Red Mill Inn on Route 22 and found weapons including a .308-caliber semi-automatic assault rifle with a defaced serial number, a grenade launcher, hundreds .50-caliber and .308-caliber rounds, a police scanner, and the maps of a U.S. military installation and an out-of-state civilian community, Forrest said.

Investigators also found Middle Eastern red and white traditional headdress, Forrest said.

Consider his cache of weapons included "a .223-caliber assault rifle that had been altered to fire .50-caliber ammunition. . .coincidence?

Ft. Hood shooter was from that area in Va. too.

Quote: "A U.S. Navy spokesman, Lt. Justin Cole, said Woodson joined the service in February 1988 and served aboard the USS Orion, a submarine tender, before deserting in April 1989. It would be eight years before he was returned to Navy custody, Cole said. A month later, in August 1997, Woodson was discharged.

It remained unclear last night whether he was passing through New Jersey or settling in for a longer period. He took a room last week at the Red Mill Inn, on Route 22. "
and
"On Saturday night, Desai said, he was working the evening shift and heard the sound of a CB or a radio coming from Woodson’s room. The lights were off, but Desai could see the faint glow of the television.

"I’m glad I didn’t open the door," said Desai, who has a master key to all units.

He said his colleague had gone into Woodson’s room Sunday morning and didn’t see any weapons."

Since suspect, Lloyd Woodson's last known address was in the same Northern VA area the Fort Hood shooter came from, it begs the question, was Woodson also a recruit of Anwar al-Awlaki or the Islamic center Dar al-Hijrah mosque in Great Falls, Virginia?

A second bulletproof vest?

For whom?

Are the authorities even considering there may be an accomplice still out there?

No connection between the milling company and the .50 caliber.

You can change calibers on an AR-15 by swapping the top part of the rifle, which includes the barrel and the receiver. The .50 Beowulf "upper" is a fairly common conversion. It shoots a big bullet at a slow velocity. It is NOT a .50 BMG by any stretch of the imagination.

There is also a single shot upper that fits AR type rifles and fires .50 BMG rounds. makes an excellent single shot sniper rifle that will easily reach targets at a 1000+ yards with the right scope and shooter.

Except for the grenades for the grenade launcher, I could buy any of that stuff over the counter.

". . .coat-hangars make excellent restraining devices. i.e. makeshift handcuffs and ankle restraints."-Warren

Thank you. Isn't it interesting how this description coldy, nonchalantly explains the usefulness of twisted wire as makeshift handcuffs and ankle restraints. . .as if it shouldn't alarm. Warren's description aligns with the FBI's immediate dismissal of this suspect's motives as not being terror related.

So, tell me, when exactly is this creative method of restraint, or the flare launcher, or the modified assault rifles (w/defaced serial numbers) using .50-caliber, ball-type and hollow-point bullets used in a non-threatening way, while this creative fella dons a bullet proof vest and brings another vest for -- ? -- voyeur perhaps? -- or partner in crime? do tell, what non-terror related event could this be for?

I believe that anyone that assumes this jokers motives were not terroristic in nature is a fool.

My description may seem cold and nonchalant to you but is simple unvarnished truth without the breathless descriptions of inanimate objects which the press is prone to.

Having lost a dispute with a snowbank Sunday afternoon to the tune of one twisted knee and a strained hip joint, I've had nothing to do the past couple days but lie on the couch and read "Courting Disaster" by Marc Thiessen. Please get this book. Thiessen is very restrained and does not speak the obvious in so many words: Barack Hussein Obama and Eric Holder, among others, are traitors who have deliberately left us wide open to jihadist attack. All that now stands between us and the next successful attack are alert police officers, startled airplane passengers, and the stupidity of would-be shaheeds like Woodson. Ironically, one reason the victims at Ft. Hood didn't have a chance was that there were too many officially responsible functionaries between them and Nidal Hasan.

The FBI, CIA, US military, and other agencies whose job it is to protect us are too busy not just covering their asses but trying to shield themselves and their families from personal ruin at the hands of leftist retributionists determined to cripple our entire intelligence network. We are already seeing the consequences and it is only likely to get worse.
