Allen West Nails It

UPDATED AT BOTTOM OF POST

Col. West speaks rather clearly and plainly, unusually so actually, on the bare bones facts of Islam now and from the beginning. West begins his comment at about 1:40 into the following video:

"The first thing you gotta do is study and understand who you're up against...You're fighting against a theo-political belief system....You need to get into the Koran, the Hadith and the Sura...this is not a perversion. They are doing exactly what this book says...Until you get principled leadership in the United States that is willing to say that, we will continue to chase our tail. Because, we will never clearly define who this enemy is and then understand their goals and objectives which is on any Jihadist website. And then come up with the right goals and objectives not only to secure our Republic, but secure Western Civilization."

To answer my own questions to who was on that panel too timid to directly answer that marine's question, I watched the Hudson Institute videos to identify them.

The marine, Gail Baum of Redstate.com directed his question to Jed Babbin former United States Deputy Undersecretary of Defense. Babbin passed the query to the legal end of the panel, Andy McCarthy, the one who pleaded the fifth with a giggle and a snort in the video above, is the former Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York. He was most notable for leading the 1995 terrorism prosecution against Sheik Omar Abdel Rahman and eleven others.

Richard B. Myers, a four-star general of the United States Air Force, served as the 15th Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff - he was the fella on the far end who was 'hopeful there were other voices out there that are rational' .

These are clearly top brass . . .and to this day, nine years post 9/11, they remain too timid to frankly respond to a marine with the same self assured manner of Col West. Forgive me if I find their timidity very very troubling.

What, pray tell, at the level of achievement of these men - what could possibly castrate their principles in front of this marine?

God bless Col. West. We need a lot more of his character taking hold of the leadership of this nation and giving direction to our finest in uniform.

Damn! Why couldn't this guy have been our first black president instead of the current POS Man-Child. I believe we then would see who the real racists are.
While it was extremely heartening to hear the applause, I had to ponder on the fact that if that's what everyone was thinking why did it take so long for someone to say it?

Wow, that's awesome. We need more men like him in politics.

Acutally, it was a relief to hear the hearty applause.

Please identify the other cowardly panelists! Each and every one was too cowardly to address this marine appropriately. Do our men in uniform take orders from these panelists? One panelist giggles and snorts to cover his ass. The other stumbles on some PC nonsense. Shame on them. Shame on their CYA 'career first' mentality! Fort Hood's Hasan is the result of this mentality.
Their personal fear is at the expense of human treasure - on the battlefield as well as on western turf. Enough blood has been spilled to keep these fool's careers 'safe'. Ugh!

Col. Allen West has my vote for president should he seek it.

I don't know if I'd call them cowards, but it sure makes one think. I'm pretty much with you Anonymous

The clown who pleads the fifth and then giggles and snorts at his own cowardice should be fired on the spot.

To his right sat the obfuscator who is afraid to use his own voice in the 'principaled' manner of Col. Allen West and 'hoped' that someone else would find their voice for him. Cowardice.

I pray these men are not the leaders responsible for preparing and then sending our finest out onto the battlefield. These cowards first need to discover and then unabashedly embrace "West's" principals (pun intended).

I refuse to believe we can't elect Allen West as President. Why should we not be able to elect a president this intelligent, this educated, this focused, this rational, and this gutsy? If the electorate stays as clueless about Islam as they are today, then there will probably be enough of them clueless enough to think in terms of not having another "black president" after Obama. If between now and 2012 the jihadists (AQ, Iran, whichever) do something to truly wake up the majority in this country then things may change very quickly.

I agree with RRA. If Jihadism gets worse, guys like Allen West and John Bolton will be positioned well to get elected.

I am glad the thrust of this piece was about the timidity of the surrounding members of the panel. It was cowardly and instructive to watch. With his simple elucidation of the facts, Col. West began hammering the nails in the coffin of Cowardice and political correctness.

Thanks for the update, it's always important to name names.
