That's the second one, and that's a very good commercial. If they'd just gone with that one I don't think anyone would have objected or even noticed. However, the original one strongly suggested that "good" women with dangerous pregnancies should ignore the advice of their doctors and rely on religious teaching instead.

I watched Sarah Palin's speech to the Tea Party and liked about 98% of it, except for the minor part about how she'd like to see our government more openly based in belief in god. Minor figures in our history such as Thomas Jefferson would beg to differ.

Some people want to give higher political status to whatever makes them feel good and/or righteous, regardless of the rights of others. And some people are more afraid of an oppression they can see up close than a worse one, such as Islam, that still seems foreign and remote.

NOW and the other pro-death promoters were 'up in arms' about this ad????!!!!-geeeez...
I was hoping the ad would have 'hit them between their eyes'!!!!!
As a long supporter-(since my turn around from 'liberal land')---of Focus on the Family-I should have known that it would have been done with subtlety.. and it was....
Good on them...and the Tebows...

there are women who need pregnancy intervention due to serious problems.. the propaganda hate mongers should not be practicing medicine without a license. they are going to get someone killed.

Doctor Tiller was not a murderer, he helped women in crisis.. ignorant people with a misinformed emotional Extremist agenda's are personally responsible for his murder.

he only did abortions on a non-viable fetus.

this ad is prescribing medical information without a license

thanks to rabid miss-informed Christian Jihadists women like my 18 year old niece had to carry a 7 1/2 month dead fetus for nearly a month till it was ready to kill her. because every doctor she went to went on vacation because they didn't want their practice ruined by Ass Hats with signs and guns hunting them down.., my niece can not have children now. the terror she experienced carrying a dead fetus while it slowly turned to stone has ruined her life.

why are Christians so zelious about this then even more zelous to ABORT other womens clildren in needles wars for profit in Iraq and Afganistan.?? to help Muslims who want to destroy us and enslave us.??

Black Rain -- this ad (and that's all I'm addressing here) is not prescribimg nor proscribing ANY medical information so far as I can tell.

So did they show both ads or only the one? If they showed only the second one I will have to take my hat off to them for what was probably the craftiest end-run of the game. It will leave the impression that people were objecting only to this innocuous, charming ad instead of the original one.

Black Rain

I know of other stories similar to your niece's and you both have my deepest sympathy. The anti-choice people want to believe that sort of thing never happens, but of course it does. And to real, live, women who are someone's daughter, wife, or niece. Thank you for your comments.
