IRGC officers coordinating with top terror organizations including Salafist orgs .. they are IDENTIFIED

WASHINGTON -- The United States has identified leading Iranian officers assigned to help such proxies as Hamas and Hizbullah.

The Treasury Department has imposed sanctions on four senior officers from Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. The department said the officers were deployed in IRGC's Quds Force and served as liasions with Hamas, Hizbullah, Islamic Jihad, Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine-General Command and Taliban.

"Today's designations expose Iran's use of its state apparatus -- including the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-Quds Force -- and state-run social service organizations to support terrorism under the guise of providing reconstruction and economic development assistance or social services," Treasury said on Aug. 3.

The IRGC officers were identified as Hushang Allahdad, Hossein Musavi, Hasan Mortezavi and Mohammed Reza Zahedi. Treasury also cited Iranian official Razi Musavi, the Iranian Committee for the Reconstruction of Lebanon as well as the Imam Khomeini Relief Committee, two organizations said to be operating in Lebanon.

"As a result of today's designations, all transactions involving any of the above designees and any U.S. person are prohibited, and any assets the designees may have under U.S. jurisdiction are frozen," Treasury said.

Allahdad was identified as a financial officer for IRGC-QF since at least 2002. Treasury said Allahdad has overseen the distribution of funds to Hamas, Hizballah and Islamic Jihad.

Musavi, a general in IRGC, was identified as the commander of the Quds Force's Ansar Corps. Treasury said Musavi's assignment was to fund and provide other support to Taliban. Mortezavi, a colonel, was also described as responsible for helping Taliban.

Treasury identified Zahedi as the commander of IRGC-QF in Lebanon. The 66-year-old Zahedi was said to serve as liasion to both Hizbullah and Syrian intelligence "and is reportedly charged with guaranteeing weapons shipments to Hizbullah."

The Iranian Committee for the Reconstruction of Lebanon was said to have been established after the 2006 war with Israel to provide funds and technology to Hizbullah. The committee has been headed by Hessam Khoshnevis, the envoy of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in Lebanon.

"ICRL has financed and facilitated Hizbullah's infrastructure and private communications network that enables the terrorist group to communicate securely," Treasury said.

The Imam Khomeini Relief Committee was said to have been controlled by Hizbullah. Treasury said the committee's director, Ali Zuraik, 58, was assigned to relay Iranian funds to Hizbullah.

"IKRC has helped fund and operate Hizbullah youth training camps, which have been used to recruit future Hizbullah members and operatives," Treasury said.
