WASHINGTON, D.C -- A Channel 2 Action News investigation found that the State Department is sending millions of dollars to save mosques overseas. This investment has received criticism as the United States makes an effort to slash nearly $4 trillion in government spending.I would have no problem with the military spending millions of dollars on Extreme Mosque Makeovers, but that's just me.
Plenty of outrage following the announcement made Thursday afternoon by a government commission that suggested huge cuts to the budget, including eliminating the interest education for home mortgage. This juxtaposed with United States investing millions to refurbish mosques as a good-will effort in Muslim countries has upset many taxpayer groups.
The Channel 2 Action News investigation found a 1,300-year-old Egyptian mosque that was almost flooded by contaminated sewer water that is one of many ancient Cairo mosques and churches that were saved from destruction by the U.S. taxpayers.
This is part of a $770 million program to rebuild Cairo's sewer system, paid for by the U.S. State Department's USAID program.
"We are spending money we don't have. This is all on a gigantic credit card right now," said Jared Thomas, a taxpayer advocate.Millions more dollars have been sent to places like Cyprus. The State Department displays before and after pictures of mosques refurbished with U.S. tax dollars.
"I think it is very hard to explain to the American taxpayer right now whose having an extraordinary time paying bills and making ends meet that this is why we took this out of your paycheck, so we can fund this," said Thomas.
All of us, every single man, woman, and child on the face of the Earth were born with the same unalienable rights; to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. And, if the governments of the world can't get that through their thick skulls, then, regime change will be necessary.

They are talking about cutting back the pitiful amount of MY money, taken from my paychecks by the government and now dribbled back as social security "payments", and meanwhile they are sending money to superstition-ridden savages who want to kill me.
I don't usually put it this way, but God damn every person in this country who voted for Obama or any other libtard political thief and if I knew how to make the well-known witch's curse work everybody with an "OBAMA" sticker on their damned SUVs and Priuses would be standing in the driveway staring at four flat tires this morning.
There's a discussion in comments over at Atlas as to whether it is appropriate to "hate" jihadists. My opinion is yes, but contempt and loathing are sufficient for political leftists and Islam enablers.
But they are getting very close to getting kicked up a notch.
Should we hate Jihadists?
Of course we should.
Should we hate all Muslims.
Of course we should not.
I'm surprised anyone could even disagree on this subject.
Then again, this is not my world, is it?
We are borrowing money to refurbish mosques in a nation which severely persecutes their Copt Christians and does not allow them to build churches.
Another good point.
Maybe our debate ought to be whether we should hate the State Dept.
I wish that we could embed the video in that article. Yes, we have the transcript, but the video is a better medium for some to learn what's really going on with our tax dollars!
Pastorius,
This is just another gesture of good will by naive individuals that will get us nothing in return.
The state dept. have been anti Israel, pro Muslim for a long time. I recall it was Bush that pushed for the abandonment of Gaza.
Damien,
will get us nothing in return
It will get us worse than nothing.
It will get us emboldened jihadomaniacs.
The phrase that springs to my mind: "We are asking for it!"
