The Walking Head

The progressive feminists are banning grid girls and swimsuit competitions in beauty pageants. Saudi Arabia, in apparent solidarity, is censoring out the entire female body.
And you thought that Japanese porn was bad ...

Anyway, Saudi Arabia has been doing this in imported newspapers and magazines for decades. For example, if the sports section had a photo of a female tennis player, then her legs and arms would be covered up by a black hi-liter. The Saudis evidently have a team of censors who go through every damn copy of every newspaper and magazine to make sure that the pure, angelic, and innocent Baywatch-watching Muslims of Arabia are not corrupted by the sinful flesh of infidel females.

This is just one of the many brilliant features of the most feminist religion.

When I was in college (1968-1973), these idjits would come around in the cafeteria and announce that Islam is the most feminist religion. Those of us who were Spanish majors knew better because we had studied the medieval literature of Spain.

That particular professor was from Andalucía and regularly held forth on the dangers of Islam and the necessity of Christianity to counter what he specifically stated was "our Arab blood."

"... our Arab blood."

Islam is not genetic. It is a pestilence of ideas.

Pasto,
Sure.

But back then the word Arab was synonymous with a follower of Islam.

And remember what Spain went through: some 700 years to rid themselves of the boot of Islam.

BTW, there is a lot more to Spanish literature than Don Quijote. Some of the medieval stories (many being epic poems) reveal a lot about Muslims and their interactions with Christians. And lots of rape jihad in those works.

Too bad that my Spanish professor/advisor is not longer living as far as I've been able to discover. Some of his analyses are available on the web, but they are, of course, in erudite Spanish.

I wish I knew more about Spanish literature.

Pasto,
Everyone laughed at me when I declared my major as Spanish in 1970.

But what insights I got about Islam via Spain's medieval literature! If I ever manage to retire, I will be re-reading much of that material. I still have the books, I hope.
