The moral failure of the left

A very effective summation by Eric Gans:
Che Guevara posters are found all over the world; I doubt if there is much of a market for Himmlers. The crimes of the Left are no less vicious than those of the Right, but we cannot condemn them without arousing what we fear the most, the resentment of our Others at home and abroad.

Postmodernism is a commemoration of Auschwitz for the wrong reasons, a cult of victims that ignores who they were and why they were killed. That is why it so enjoys squeezing tears out of the Holocaust but finds crushing “kulaks” under the treads of tractors “beautiful” and “lyrical.”

Ahhh...Just to point out, the Nazis were not from the ´right', it was the German National Socialist Workers Party, they were left wing, so were Mussolinis Facists!

Exactly, Free Man. The Nazis were only a little bit Right of the Communists. Any group who aspires to strong government controls is leftist. True conservatives on the right want less government and more local control.

I agree with you two, and from reading Prof. Gans in the past I know he does too. His use of "left" and "right" here is just in deference to common usage, though he has said elsewhere that it is a distinction without a real difference. I also posted this quote at Covenant Zone where a discusseion of this left-right point can be found in the comments.
