PimFortuyn: If Something Were to Happen To Me.....

This is the first of two videos I have been working on which focus on a Dutch TV appearance by Pim Fortuyn within a few months of his assassination. In this video, I have added little more to the original 50 second clip from the show "Jensen!" other than English subtitles. Yesterday, I was lucky enough to receive a response from a new Dutch correspondent who contacted me through YouTube. His excellent explanation of the translation he wrote up made this possible. I already was able to understand what was said in this short clip thanks to a few Dutch friends, but was not confident enough to try and get it subtitled. I also upgraded all of my computer gear in between, making it possible for me to simply download and add subtitles once I had received the wonderful word for word transcription/translation by "Obosoz".

The vast importance of this short clip of video lies in the fact that Fortuyn is describing the climate that the Dutch establishment, both media and politicians, had built up around him despite his overwhelming popularity (with his Party, Lijst (List) Pim Fortuyn) that had every poll in the Netherlands predicting a landslide victory for him in the upcoming May election. I had read an interview from around the same time in some English language media outlet, with Pim saying much the same thing, along with a few flippant comments regarding the lack of State protection for him and a flat-out belief stated that an attempt would be made on his life.

This video clip achieves just so much more for audiences not fluent in Dutch. Fortuyn's charisma shines through, his strong words sting eerily with the power of an accusation repeated to the guilty by the victim from beyond the grave. Pim's parting shot is funny and gets the audience cheering, when he asks, "More pies? Bring it on!", referring to an attack that had just happened to him. In that attack far-left radicals (not all that different from the "activist" who shot Fortuyn within a few months to "protect the Muslims" of the Netherlands) had thrown "pies" on Pim, concoctions filled with human waste.

Once the second video is complete, it will show the "Jensen!" clip in more context for those less familiar with Pim Fortuyn, as well as show another brief video clip of the "pie incident". Until then, please enjoy for once Pim Fortuyn actually speaking, and this time with English subtitles. My greatest thanks goes out to those who helped me in this, "Obosoz" for his translation and "Problemsolver 71" for his fine collection of all things Pim, including the video clips that he has posted to YouTube.

A very good video, PG. As he says, all the people who did not protect him well, were (an are) responsible for his death.
Regards.

I think we can do better. Pim's words were prophetic, so he should be named Prophet Pim. By putting him on par with Mo, every future mention of Prophet Pim is a further insult to Mo and the death cult.

Prophet Pim u Akhbar!
Prophet Pim u Akhbar!
Prophet Pim u Akhbar!

Maybe Pim's Ghost should change handle to Prophet Pim's Ghost? He! He!
