GERTZ: The new Hamas regime has imposed a jihad police force in the Gaza Strip. Men and women morality officers, echoing authorities in Iran and Saudi Arabia, have been patrolling the streets and looking for men and women who don't dress or behave in accordance with Islamic morals. Cars have been searched for Western publications, women inspected for whether their hair was covered.Naturally, those in the Gaza Strip who are not Muslims are already fair game.
Criminals who were put out of business by the Hamas regime now find that they could get away with robbing Christians.
One of the victims was an 80-year-old Christian woman in Gaza City who was beaten by a masked Muslim attacker.
The attacker with a stick and knife and entered the Rosary Sisters School and demanded money. His was the latest in a series of attacks on the Roman Catholic school. Hamas has not reported any arrests. Other attackers stormed the church and school with rocket-propelled grenades and burned Bibles and destroyed crosses.
I'm sorry to inform you Bill, but as clearly indicated HERE and HERE this is not crime, but has been regarded as a right and an ancient one from North Africa to the Chinese border from the 7th century on. Only our modern interruption to this 'ancien regime' convinces us, over here, that a crime exists. Over there it's back to the way things are supposed to be.
Don't tell me this is a surprise, Bill, pleaseIn the West Bank, Christians are also coming under increasing pressure.
The Palestinian Authority might hate Hamas but it, too, has been imposing Islamic law in the West Bank.
