Dalai Lama Says It's Wrong To Call Islam A Violent Religion

Alrighty then.

From Fox:

BETHLEHEM, Pennsylvania — The Dalai Lama said that "it's totally wrong, unfair" to call Islam a violent religion.

The Tibetan spiritual leader, appearing Sunday at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania, offered a defense of Islam in response to a question about the rise of violent religious fundamentalism. He added that he has made a point of reaching out to Muslims since the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

Ok, and I'm pretty sure the Dalai Lama is not a stupid man, so he must just be a liar.

But Pastorius, how can you say such a thing?

Well, I say, it's my hobby.

I agree with the Dalai Lama. It is incorrect to call Islam a 'violent religion'. Islam is in fact a violent cult. Religions try to bring out the best in people. Islam (like most other cults) does the opposite.

Freakin fool is more than half a MARXIST

which is why
he has empathy for ISLAM

which is also at least half MARXIST

(see the comments I made in Casssandra's Islamic whinehad piece)

DALAI LAMA: I think you, you mentioned I think suspicion on the Chinese side
of suspicion. I think that is very true. Oh, look in Stalin’s period and Chairman Mao’s
period. Apparently comrade – they also use the word of comrade – comrade. But
internally, full of suspicion of each other. (Laughter.) Terrible, isn’t it. So not only
towards me but towards their own sort of member of the politburo. I think full of
suspicion of each other. I think – although I really – I am one of the admirer of Karl
Marx’s theory. I still call myself half-Marxist. (Laughter.) I am proud to say it in
America – (laughter) – to say that. (Chuckles.)
So in anyway, you see they –
MR. HOLBROOKE: You’re more Marxist than the Chinese leaders.
DALAI LAMA: Maybe, maybe. (Laughter.) But then unfortunately, eventually,
Marxism just simply used the – they justified their power – their main game – main
concern is power from Stalin too – (inaudible). I think that is a really I think(inaudible). I think that is a really I think damaging factor for pure Marxism. This is how I feel

Since 'survival' isn't very high on the list of Buddhist virtues, it should be no surprise that 'integrity' doesn't make the list at all.

The current dalai lama (lower case intended) is an embarassment.

Pastorius said...

I just remembered, Najistani is a Buddhist.

So, what do you really think of this statement by the Dalai Lama, Najistani? You were joking weren't you? I mean, you don't really think the Dalai Lama was being that subtle, do you? What would be the point, just to dodge having to make a real point?

He is not a liar, he is just willfully ignorant.

Pastorius said...

Willfully ignorant means lying to oneself, which means you are also lying to others.

To embrace Marxism, even if one is only a "half Marxist", like the Dalai Lama, is to begin a spiritual descent into half-truths and ultimately lies. In metaphysical terms, Marxism is an example of what Russian philosopher Boris Vysheslavtsev calls "speculation on debasement", in other words the reduction of higher ontological forms to lower levels of being - e.g. life is only a physiochemical process, humans are only animals, consciousness is only a neural network, music is only a sound wave, culture is only a form of the economy, etc. Marxism negates any movement in the opposite direction (e.g. culture is not only a form of the economy but also a form of the human spirit) because the logical terminus of any such ascent is the Absolute, the sublime, God Himself. But the essence of Marxism is hatred of God, subjugation of God-given free will, and the recreation of man in the image and likeness of man, purged of all divinity. In its hatred of freedom and free will, Marxism is very much like Islam, a "religion" whose object of worship is most definitely not God.

Very odd.

Maybe two can play at Taqiyya. Or perhaps it's dhimmitude in the style of the Archbishop of Canterbury. Certainly many of the world's Buddhists are extremely vulnerable to the 'Religion of Peace' having one of its rare non-peaceful abberations.

The Dalai Lama himself has actually been threatened with non-violent assassination by the followers of the Prophet of Peace:

From http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,20867,21493416-2703,00.html

"SECURITY surrounding the Dalai Lama has been tightened after reports of an attempt by the al-Qa'ida-linked terrorist organisation Lashkar-e-Toiba to assassinate the exiled Tibetan spiritual leader.

A three-tier security ring has been thrown around the 72-year-old Buddhist head, who lives at Dharamsala, in the Himalayan foothills, Indian police spokesman Prem Lal said.
All those approaching the exiled Tibetan chief will be closely watched by highly trained Tibetan security guards as well as heavily armed deployments of Indian police.

Visitors are being body-searched before being allowed to approach him.

The Dalai Lama is scheduled to make a widely anticipated 11-day visit to cities and regional centres across Australia in early June, making both free and ticketed appearances at public lectures, blessings and teaching sessions. Before that, he will visit the US.

Superintendent Lal said police had been alerted by central intelligence agencies to the reported plot by Lashkar-e-Toiba to kill the Dalai Lama "on the directions of a foreign organisation", which he declined to name, but is assumed to be al-Qa'ida.

In a recent document, Osama bin Laden denounced "pagan Buddhism" as part of his general attack on anything not Islamic.

The assassination threat picked up by Indian authorities is thought to be based on bin Laden's denunciation and the extremist jihadi movement's hatred for anything and anyone that is not Muslim.

Lashkar-e-Toiba is believed to be al-Qa'ida's agent in South Asia and has been involved in virtually every major terrorist attack in India.

Indian authorities recently heightened the security surrounding India's political leader, Sonia Gandhi, and members of her high-profile family following intelligence reports that they were on the extremist movement's hit list. Mrs Gandhi now travels the country in armed motorcades similar to those that carry the country's head of state, President Abdul Kalam.

The heavy security cordon thrown around the Dalai Lama at the Dharamsala exile where he has lived since fleeing Tibet is in sharp contrast to the normally relaxed atmosphere that pervades the town and is testimony of the extent to which Islamic terrorism is affecting even remote parts of the world.

As police disclosed the threat to the Dalai Lama, Indian officials drafted a strong declaration on terrorism in South Asia for leaders attending the South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation summit beginning in New Delhi today.

Indian foreign secretary Shivshankar Menon said the draft declaration would discuss "not only about implementing what we have already agreed to, but to see what further action we, in thesub-region, can take against terrorism".

There are suggestions that leaders at the eight-nation summit will consider extending throughout Asia the joint mechanism to deal with terrorism recently established between India and Pakistan.

The mechanism involves close co-operation on all matters relating to terrorism and a regular exchange of intelligence.

Sri Lanka is particularly keen to see an integrated strategy that would assist it in its war against the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, or Tamil Tigers. Colombo wants SAARC members to work with it to defeat the Tigers.

Similarly, India wants all eight SAARC nations to help it defeat the Lashkar-e-Toiba group and to pursue a campaign against the terrorist movement. But many Pakistanis see LeT fighters as heroes.

Najistani,
Thanks for the info.

So, that would make him a liar who has a very good reason to lie.

;-)

By the way, Najistani, it occurs to me the Pope has been similarly irrational about Islam on occasion.

I admire the Pope, so I guess I ought to be easier on the Dalai Lama.
