The Lech Walesa Institute puts the price of tolerance ... the king of Saudi Arabia!
And the price of tolerance goes to ... King Abdullah!
The Lech Walesa Institute, which aims to uphold the "founding values of the Solidarity movement," has just given his award at Saudi King Abdullah.
The Institute recognizes its efforts in "continued dialogue among religions, promotion of tolerance and mutual understanding between cultures and civilizations." In the honorary committee members, among others, French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner and former Czech president Vaclav Havel.
"What these people were guided wise and respectable when they awarded the prize to the absolute monarch of a country that the death penalty for apostasy?" Wonders Jedrysik Milada in the daily Gazeta Wyborcza. “ It is an irony of fate because in Saudi Arabia, homosexuals face severe penalties ... "

Oh, the irony! The award is in the shape of a cross. Betcha the "tolerant" kingy will chuck that in the trash!
Yeah, at first I thought old Lech was handing over a Catholic monstrance (the thingy that holds a consecrated wafer in the center for the adoration of the devout) to the King, but then I saw the hand flashing the peace sign. This must make any real Catholics and Christians in Poland wince.
How many $$$$$ did the LWI get from the Saudis?
When you mentioned the abolition of slavery in 1962, you forgot to mention that the government paid a compensation of £1000 per slave TO THE OWNERS. This was considered a massive boon to the owners since it was about three times the going rate at the Buryami slave market which was closed at the same time.
And this is why they put the handles on the INSIDE of Polish coffee cups.
