PA State Rep To Introduce State Sovereignty Resolution

Samuel Rohrer is planning to introduce a resolution reasserting State’s rights:In an attempt to proclaim and reassert Pennsylvania state government’s independence and sovereignty from the federal government, I plan to introduce a House resolution reminding federal authorities about the constitutional limitations on their powers and calling on them to cease and desist with all activities that infringe on the powers reserved to the state of Pennsylvania and its citizens.
This is an issue that is currently being addressed by more than 20 other states across our nation.
Like our sister states, Pennsylvania must draw a line in the sand and reassert its sovereignty.
I am currently circulating the resolution among my peers in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. Please encourage your family members, friends and acquaintances who live outside our legislative district to contact their House member and urge them to support this measure to protect Pennsylvania’s independence.

No link, no verification but supposedly in the Porkulus there is a provision that if the Governor turns down any monies the state legislature is allowed to vote for it and override the Governor. Sounds like an end run of States Rights.
LOVE it - the only way to reign in the power-mad federal gov't is for states to say - NO - this is the line- the Constitution. You have this much power (as plainly set forth in the document) - you try to take any more, and we are OUTTA here.
Good on them. Also good on any state that says, mmm - thanks, but no thanks to the Porkoslush funds.
I think we could reconstitute some sort of federal government to coordinate defense, infrastructure and treaty-stuff and leave the rest to the states.
I would much rather be taxed at the smallest political subdivision possible. Less waste, more accountability and less use of funds to buy votes.
I did get an answer by snail mail today from my state rep - regarding a state sovereignty resolution. She has asked for examples, so I am going to be drafting and sending a packet of info to her and cc-ing my state senator and the speaker of the state house as well.

I plan to - thanks. I am also getting New Hampshire's and Oklahoma's AND I am going to try to find that quote from the Vermont retired econ professor (who is in cahoots with the "League of Southern States" guy - gotta love that!) regarding holding the federal tax dollars at the state level until the feds back the hell off.
I am going to have to produce hard-copies and fedex it to her office (with a cc to the senator and speaker) because it seems she is not very computer savvy.
I got an e-mail back from a local prominent law professor who says he agrees with me regarding the over-reach on a number of the act's provisions, but does not know who would have standing. For someone to have an individual injury that can be remedied by a court (a rough definition of standing) could take a long time.
So I was interested to see the group in Congress is researching the "Governors go to Hell" provision. I may ask my rep and senators to see if that same bunch could research a few other provisions as well. Hell, it's worth a shot.
And that tirade was classic. Just thinking how proud the signers of the D of I would be to have heard that, so many years on. . .
