You know EXACTLY what I'm about to say.
CARRY A GUN. THE LIFE YOU SAVE MAY BE MORE THAN YOUR OWN.
CARRY A GUN. THE LIFE YOU SAVE MAY BE MORE THAN YOUR OWN.
Update: Note first the initial reaction to call it high powered rifles when, in fact, it was 2 handguns. Now, in New York you need:
A permit to purchase a handgun
Register your handgun
Be a licensed Handgun owner
A permit to carry your handgun and show valid reason for needing such license.
Since the guy was using an alias we can probably assume the guns were not registered according to "the rules" as well.
See how well gun control works for you?
still developing from MSNBC:

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - A gunman walked into an immigrant services center and opened fire on Friday, killing 13 people before he killed himself, police said. Another four people were in critical condition.
The suspected gunman carried identification with the name of 42-year-old Jiverly Voong of nearby Johnson City, N.Y., a law enforcement official said. But the name is an alias that the man has used in the past, said the official, who was not authorized to speak publicly and was talking on condition of anonymity.
"It obviously was premeditated," said Binghamton Police Chief Joseph Zikuski, noting the gunman blocked the rear exit with his car. "He made sure nobody could escape."
Earlier, the number of dead had been variously put at 12 to 16 by Gov. David Paterson and law enforcement officials. . . .
. . .Rep. Maurice Hinchey, whose district includes Binghamton, said the gunman appears to have been a man who was recently let go from IBM in Johnson City.
Mayor Matthew Ryan initially said the gunman had a high-powered rifle but law-enforcement sources later told NBC that he had actually used two handguns.

News reports here in the UK describe him as of "Asian" appearance. Jihadist??
Don't know yet, Ray. Situation is still developing and all we are hearing is the same "Asian" appearance, "Asian" male.
Your latest posts are an affirmation of my 'gut' feeling - I will follow through...Great posts-by the way...

PS-this is why the ACLU must be defeated on all fronts---that group is an instrument of the Dark Siders' who's goal is to wrest the Second Amendment from us in the US....

The Telegraph (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/5102188/Dozen-feared-dead-in-New-York-state-shooting.html) has him as Vietnamese appearance. This paragraph amused me though:
"Mass shootings have become more frequent in recent years in the US, where guns are widely available and owning weapons for self-defence and hunting is considered a basic right by many."
I love the way they undermine your constitution - it's 'considered' a human right. No Daily Telegraph, it's not considered a human right, it is a legal right to bear arms, a right that us in Britain should have too. Not sure how said it but removing arms from the people only endangers the victim and empowers the criminal or something like that. Well, we aren't allowed to carry anything considered a weapon - tasers, knuckle dusters, koshes, knives, even screwdrivers (unless you're a tradesman or have a geniune reason to have it on you) so please America, don't let yourself end up like us - victims like this guy -

I'm sure it wont be long before Krav Maga is banned because it mandates maximum force against your assailant and we can't have that, they might get hurt when they're trying to stab you to death.
First opportunity I get I'm moving the states and tooling up!
Linh Phat Voong, 41 years old, was attending language classes at the civic center. Voong's sister said Voong is a U.S. citizen and has been in this country for 28 years.
Officials said Voong backed his car up to the rear door of the building to block any escape before he went to the front of the building and started to execute people.
As this thing unfolds keep in mind 2 things about New York. First, the guy used a "high powered rifle" which in journaleeze could be anything from a .22 to an m-16 and beyond. Doesn't matter. In New York you can't carry a loaded one in your vehicle, which it seems this fellow did.
Secondly, in New York (from the laws I've just read over) you are not allowed to use deadly force as a first resort in public. So had some citizen who refused to be a victim been armed and returned fire HE would have been guilty of a felony for defending his life and that of those around him.
Ain't it great how gun control laws work to protect us?
Or your response could mirror my daughter's in my earlier post:
"i would rather risk gettin written up in the off chance someone searches my stuff and decides its some sort of weapon than risk being a news article"
If nothing else keep HER words in mind.
PSS-The coverage on this has already started with the usual "poor victim" shooter-"something must have made him angry"...AND
"anyone carrying a gun-must be angry"...Just quoting....
Tomorrow it will be --"we 'royals' must protect the citizen from these angry gun owners"....
Waiting....

Sad that it's so predictable.
I wonder how many people are badly injured or killed on bicycles or in pools each year?
Best ban bikes and pools, I guess.
And crossing streets on foot, and driving on interstate highways in small cars, and drinking whiskey, and skiing, and hang-gliding, and driving in the neighborhood, and horseback riding, and etc.
What a bunch of transparent morons.
