Patriotism or prejudice? Teen suspended for criticizing Muslim student

Uh yeah, I'd call this Patriotism. Her choice of words may not have been kind, but in all, she did the right thing.

SPRING HILL, FL -- While showing off her JROTC uniform, 16-year-old Heather Lawrence told us joining the Army is her next big goal, to follow in the footsteps of her father and grandfather.

"Our flag represents everything that our country is," she said.

The teen says an issue over the American flag is why she was written up and handed a five-day suspension from Springstead High School this week for criticizing a Muslim student. Heather says the other girl was sitting down during the Pledge of Allegiance.

"You know, I made a not-so-kind remark, and I do sincerely apologize for referring to the thing on her head because that had nothing to do with it." Heather told us, "But I told her, 'Why don't she act like she's proud to be an American?'"

Despite the open apology to the girl, who wears a hijab, the President of the Tampa/Hillsborough County Human Rights Council says Heather's actions were harmful and the school was right for taking action.

"But whether standing up or not, this issue's not about the pledge of allegiance or anything else." Council President Ahmed Bedier said. "This is about bullying and it's about discrimination."

Bedier says the Muslim student's family contacted him and claims she did stand up for the pledge.

Meanwhile, Hernando school board member Pat Fagan said he doesn't want to comment about the school's decision to suspend Heather, but told us people, in general, should think before they speak.

The Muslim student walked away from Heather's confrontation. A school staff member then reported the incident.

Heather's dad, Mark, told us his family is not racist nor prejudiced and hopes school officials will reduce his daughter's punishment.

"Respect one's rights is the most important thing today for us as Americans to be appreciative of our nation," Fagan said.

-Nobody should be compelled to respect an ideology that doesn't respect them. And Islam respects nobody. It claims dominion, respect doesn't come into it - you submit, that's the deal.

Pasto, what happened to the post about CJ?

I took it down because I thought about it, and i realized I had revealed too much personal information about Lex and I. I didn't think it was fair of me to do that.

Oh. Well, as long as it was something YOU said and not something I said.

Council President Ahmed Bedier said. "This is about bullying and it's about discrimination."

So the muslima has the right to discriminate by refusing to stand and show disrespect for the American flag and it's pledge while Heather Lawrence is denied equal opportunity to discriminate by questioning the muslima's discriminatory action?

Why is that considered bullying? Why is Heather's questioning this muslima worth five days suspension?
Heather did not lay a hand on the ever sensitive 'muslima' a fact which renders this suspension way out of proportion to the issue at hand.

"President of the Tampa/Hillsborough County Human Rights Council says Heather's actions were harmful and the school was right for taking action."

As for the so-called (unamed) 'president' of the Tampa/Hillsborough County Human Rights Council (nice official title for such an empty suit) should explain in greater detail how Heather's question is, harmful because as far as I'm concerned, this fool has unecessarily exacerbated the situation with such a reckless comment.

And what about the main stream media's discrimination? The suspended student's identity,"Heather Lawrence" her aspirations (JROTC)and image are openly revealed for all to recognize. Yet the msm protects the 'muslima' who is identified only as "the girl, who wears a hijab". The msm goes on to identify Heather's father by name as well:
"Heather's dad, Mark . . ."
while protecting the identity of the 'muslima's' family:
"Bedier says the Muslim student's family contacted him "

Pathetic dhimmitude. A trait the Tampa/Hillsborough msm has tons of shameful experience in.

Jeppo,
No, it was not anything you said.

I wanted to just delete the comments, but I decided to just delete the whole post.

I still have the post in email form, so I'll probably put it back up in a few days, along with the link you sent me.

The problem is, Charles deleted the comment, so I still don't know if there was anymore context to it.

I take it Charles doesn't want anyone on his site saying that Obama is not abiding by our Constitution.

That's odd.

If he's not abiding by our Constitution, then he's not.

Obama's firing of the Inspectors General was an impeachable crime. Everyone seems to have forgotten about it? Why? Because there have been ten other things since then that have been disturbing.

The Obama Presidency thus far has been one long hailstorm, one disturbing thing after another.

No one can keep up with the scope of it.

Long train of abuses indeed.

If you don't stand up for my flag, cross your heart, hope to die, say the pledge, and the kiss that flag's proverbial ass all day why the hell should I pay for you to go to school? Oh, and if you so much as look at an ROTC student cross-eyed you should be set onto the ocean in a paper boat if you're lucky. Unreal. Why does it occur to anyone to tolerate this crap?

Bitches in slave rags should simply be ridiculed constantly. That's great that they let us know of their genocidal intentions and take pride in the fact that they and their cohort consider them to be body parts and not people, and they think it's awesome to have been born a prostitute and to get to die a prostitute (like all females under Islamic law by definition and without exception), but you can't expect to not be ridiculed and called every name in the book or to be told that you're not welcome in a public building or near children. You can't. If you explicitly define yourself as a murderous vagina-whore you can't expect for others to define you as anything else.

Jdamn,
I gotta give it to you, you are a great writer. Very entertaining. I may not always agree with you, but you always get your point across loud and clear and in a way no one else would say it.

That's the mark of a great writer in my opinion.

Charles deleted the comment? That's strange considering that it was there when I linked it, at least 24 hours after it was originally posted.

BTW I was wrong when I said it was a quote from the constitution, it was actually from the Declaration of Independence.

If you read some of his further comments in that thread, he insinuated that Gatorbait was inciting violent revolution by quoting that passage. I call BS.

Pastorius said...

See, that sounds completely insane.

Was there any other context to the Gatorbait comment, or did the guy merely quote from the Declaration?

If all he did was quote from the Declaration of Independence, then we know that now Charles considers that document to be too "extreme" for his website.

That's fucking insane, if that's the case.

The father has said they are "not racist or prejudiced." Officially he is supposed to say he will "not judge religion, sexual orientation, ability, national origin, legal status, height, political affiliation, or any other relevant factors in matters large or small ever."

I think the father should also be convicted of a hate crime. Are the FEMA camps ready?

jeppo said...

All Gatorbait did was quote that passage, and added GET IT? at the end.

Charles interpreted it as inciting violent revolution, and answered with one of his patented "Get off my website!" bannings.
